Once again my friend the base curb weight for a '03 ZO6 is 3118lbs and base curb weight for a C6 coupe is 3179 lbs. both gearing ratios between C5 ZO6 and C6 Z51 are almost identical. To make a long story short Yes I agree the C5 ZO6 is SLIGHTLY faster but I've never heard of a race between "identical " drivers and a difference in weight of 60lbs (heck one guy in a ZO6 could weigh 200lbs and a C6 guy could weigh 140lbs now your looking at identical weights) is'nt a huge difference. Also remember C5 ZO6's have been around longer so theres more track data availible on a C5 ZO6. I've spoken to a member on the Vette forum that has ran his to a 12.3. So once again it's a drivers race between these two cars.

Actualy it's a bit slower than 1/10 of a second. Most people look at the GM's estimates--C6 400hp C5 Z06 405hp and think that they are just about even. But the truth lies in the stock dyno comparisons.. The Z06 adverages 15-20 more RWHP than the C6. The suspension is much better IMO. What realy puts the Z06 over the top is the low weight. The Z06's thinner windshield, lighter battery and titanium exhaust support weight savings. Also equiped with a carbon-fiber hood, the beast weighs in at 3074 pounds--with half a tank of gas! The damn thing hits high 11's and very low 12's stock.

This is what makes the Z06 faster than a C6.

We are both obviously biased in opinions about the Z06 and the C6. But I would not lie to you to make a point. It's just like a 05 stang and C5 auto. 9 times out ten the Vette will win. I have raced C6 vettes before. Hell I even drove one. It is and feels slower. Im not knockin your car man but your not the first C6 Vette owner that i've had to set strait. The truth comes from RWHP. Thats where the Z06 or my Z06 excells. However this debate will no longer be relevant when I get the new one.

ya i've seen it. its nasty. i was at a shop yesterday in CT where they had 3 500+whp evo's and thats not counting al friedman's car which was there also, he's gone 9.97 in his evo.

i wouldn't necesarily say i like everything. like most here, i can't stand ricers. heck i call my self a rice sometimes. I have a big wing an stickers, but then again, i do have some power to back it up. i respect fast cars and people that know how to drive them.

I don't like highway racing (no surprise coming from an evo owner). but there's no skill involved. mash the gas and go.

i try to know a little about everything. i read up on most of the forums and read lots of magazines. i used to own an 87gt that i road raced.

there's no sense of going to a forum where you 'don't belong' and trying to start ****.

i'm not here to argue with anyone. just stating what i know to inform people that might not and learning.

i saw the vid last night, and my jaw dropped. i knew the car was fast b4, and now theyve upped the hp. i mean, really, when do they stop ?? 3 500+awhp EVO's in one shop...thats insane.

nobody likes ricers. at least you have power to back up your stickers and "big wing" though. ricers dont. they have stickers, big wings, and no need for 'em. and roll racing sucks. period !!!

what'd u have done to your GT ?? like engine wise ? suspension setup, etc, etc. i dont see any problems with you. you seem cool. i was just stating what i saw/thought about you. thats all.

i don't like comin to other peoples boards and causing trouble. i really hate seeing people do that, its really annoying.

my gt was pretty slow.

eibach 2.5" dropped springs, kyb gas adjustable struts, fms camber plates, 8.8 rear with 3.53s, rear pan hard bar, front upper and lower tower brace, sub frame connectors, 8pt cage, mac headers, off road h pipe, flowmaster 3 chambers, hurst shifter, intake, throttle body, 24lb injectors, underdrive pulleys, ac removed, fluidyne radiator, electrical fan, ummmm there are a few more things, but my dad sold it bout 4yrs ago when i was in japan with the military.
fortunately he sold it to a friend. he's rebuilt it with a 306, cam, cobra upper and lower intake, pistons rods etc

you said you'd rather get a new GT than a GT500 cause they can be made faster for less money. unless you're paying for the car in cash, you don't have that extra money on hand. i can't afford to buy a new cobra in cash for 45k or something. i can't buy a brand new GT for 27k and have that extra 18k left over to make a GT faster faster than a cobra. get it?
I was just speaking in theoretical dollar terms nanaki. If I had 45-60K laying around the house somewhere I'd rather fully deck out a GT than spend it on a car that will weigh 2 tons and only run mid 12's off the lot. But I see your point also, I just wasn't going into that much realism with my comment. Because let's face it........i can't afford a GT500 OR 25K in mods to my GT.[:@]
if i had 60k in cash layin at home, i would put a down payment on a house in astoria oregon, and fix it up for a month or two and put it back on the market for 75k more than i paid for it. then i would take the 100k after taxes that i have layin around and put 15k of it in my stang, and repeat the process.
