M3
ORIGINAL: E30 M3
How much crack is smoked on this forum? Holy crap. Firstly, you guys are all over the map in terms of stats for the M3(most being completely incorrect). It is by no means a straight-line performer, that is secondary in nature, actually, it's at the end of the list of performance). These are track cars, with proven track performance, PERIOD! It just so happens that they're in the field of low 14 second cars at the track, so you compare them with your low 14 second car. They are both quick, low 14 second performers, it's that simple, unfortunately, that's where all comparisons end. To say that you BLEW away an M3 with a stock GT is ludicrous, or it wasn't a true all-out race. They are both fast cars, as is any 14 second automobile. The ultimate difference is that the M3 can do EVERYTHING very well, not so with the GT, NOT REMOTELY! I've driven both cars, and truthfully, they are both very quick, and would be hard to tell which is faster because of the inifinite factors involved(driver, temperature, weight etc...) Ultimately, it's CRYSTAL CLEAR which is a better car, the choice isn't as clear when you're talking about which is faster stock to stock straight-line. It's just funny how some of you characters throw out these words/stats/comments, and you have absolutely NO CLUE WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT! Go to a non-quarter mile track, and learn to drive before you start posting absurd and often incoherent comments giving the other mature stang drivers a bad rep. Christ.

Edit: although a lot of what you say is true, especially about lots of ppl on here spewing out incorrect information, hardly anyone here gives a rats *** about track racing, including me. To most of these guys, there are some exceptions, if it isn't a Ford Mustang it = POS. Just for future reference.
yah for all of us that can read where the hell does it say i SMOKED an M3 or i beat it on the turns or the mustang is a better track car.???i said i was half a car length ahead and that they where so even but i had 215hp and the bmw is 240 and yah it weighs 3175 because its my friends car so take a deep breath and stop reading old road and track comparisons....
WOW
WOW
Here's an intelligent quote, from SILVERBULLET 5.0
"maaaaaaaaaaaaaan the E36 M3's are slooooow in a straight"
This quote pretty much sums everything up about the OVERALL accuracy and knowledge on this forum. Raise the roof for this yahoo! He's comparing two cars that are virtually the same speed in the quarter mile? So the GTs are sloooow in a straight too? Crack is bad m'kay.
And connor, so just so you know, there are no known comparisons of the E36 M3 vs. Stang GT, so I don't know what you're talking about when you say "take a deep breath and stop reading old road and track comparisons" ?? I wasn't actually directing anything I wrote to you per se, just stating the pipe-dreams of others.
Everything I've stated is factual, so don't feel bad.
Here is a BRILLIANT post, you guys should be proud : 95LT1-he obviously cares about track racing, even though he's lost his marbles.
"Beemers are okay in corners unless they have been worked a bit. Not great not all whoohooo OMG my ears are leaking brain cells in this left hander. They are okay. IMO they are over rated, hyped by magazines and TV. After having been in Germany, owning a BMW, and racing them with a 2nd Gen TA, well lets just say the Germans like Pontiacs better, as long as they are certain ones. You dont wanna race with an Aztec or a Focus, or even a Tarus. If you get beat by a BMW, I will point and laugh at you. I do like driving them, they make nice family cars, really nice ones. If I was over there now and money wasnt an issue I would have an 850IL for cruising, just becuz I could. They just dont have the shove you back in the seat feel I like."
Hyped by magazines and tv? OMG, dude...have you ever watched TV? Have you ever opened up a book? Do you smoke crack before you type? Too much, but definitely good for a laugh.
"they just don't have the shove you back in the seat feel I like" BUHAHAHAHA. BEST QUOTE OF THE DAY! Do you live under a rock? Have you ever heard of BMW's Motorsport division? Have you even seen a bimmer before? Buddy, go to a different heroine dealer, the one you're with now is putting idiot-juice into your batch.

You certainly have a drug problem man or must be a dealer
WHY DON'T YOU provide us with some insight if we know nothing?
Ok so BMW has a go fast division, well so does Ford, might of heard of it, SVT.
His statement, as I read it, had nothing to do with a performance versions from BMW. The cars he had driven didn't have the feel he likes. So he stated it, Did you notice the IMO, through out the post? He may not have been impressed with the cars like others maybe and said so.
You like your 3 series that's great! I have driven them and I couldn't justify spending that kinda of money for the car with those performance charctisitcs.
I have driven 2 M5's and was very impressed but that's an insane amount of cash for a car like that.
It's okay to be critical of someone's opinion, but atleast provide an argument with valid points of why they might be wrong. Drugs don't clasify as an answer, by saying things like that shows how ignorant one can be.
Are you ignorant?

umm how is my quote stupid? Or inaccurate? I happen to think a mid 14 in the qm is slow. So, e36's are slow in a straight. I didnt say "e36's are gay" or anything stupid like that, i simply stated a fact in my opinion. And for the most part i was comparing them to when i DROVE AN E36 M3! It seemed to have 0 torque down low (which in response to you making fun of the push you back into your seat comment, BMW's have 0 of that, not even your almighty M3) and didnt seem any faster than my friend's 325. Ive also driven a stock 2000 GT, and well, the GT SEEMED a helluva lot faster. Have you ever driven a car that has more than 200lb ft tq? Probably not. Get the **** out. E36 M3's are slow. Its sad when your 60 grand car makes only 262 torque to the fly and my 91 ford makes 310 to the wheels. And nobody here gives a **** about track racing. My friend from germany said the exact quote "man, if i had your car in germany, i would be the ****". He went on to explain that germans dont even think BMW's are the ultimate driving machines, and that most would much rather have a mustang, camaro, or firebird (TA).
Im betting his next comment will be "i have a nicer interior and more cupholders"

If you're a betting man, then you'd lose.
I don't have a drug problem at all, but by the comments made by some of the members of this forum, I just assumed that drugs were possibly being passed out to many Ford owners upon signup.
What more insight would you like? I didn't say once in any of my posts that nobody knows nothing. If you read my posts again, all I stated was that numerous members of this forum have their facts completely fubar-and I directed everything that way.
The division of SVT is great, no question about that, infact I've driven the contour & the lightning on numerous occasions. Truthfully though, you cannot compare an SVT vehicle to an M vehicle, that would be ridiculous on all accounts. They are so dissimilar....and I can go on about why, but it wouldn't change anything regarding some of the member's views towards German engineering.
SilverGTV8 - "I couldn't justify spending that kinda of money for the car with those performance charctisitcs." What performance characteristics are you referencing? Slalom? Quarter Mile? Braking from 60? What? Please be more specific. I don't know what you're looking for in terms of performance, but rest assured BMW has a car to fit each and every category. You want a high 12 second car-Z8, you want a car that pulls almost a G on the skidpad-M3 CSL etc...
You've driven 2 M5's, and you can honestly say it's an insane amount of cash for what it provides? High 4's to 60, top speed of 155 limited, almost .9 on the skidpad, while carrying 5 people with ample room. What else on earth can do that for that type of money? Mercedes E55 and Audi S4 are about the only other sedans on earth with those capabilities. What better performance characteristics can anyone ask out of a sedan? Please let me know. The fact that it's 75k USD is irrelevant, there's nothing else out there(same category) that can do it-so you have to pay to play, like any other high performance automobile. You cannot afford that car-which is the main point, because if you could afford a car of that calibre, then you wouldn't think twice about owning it. I am in the exact same position, I cannot afford a car of that worth, but it doesn't matter, because I know what it's capable of, and it doesn't change the fact that it's a destroyer. If we were all millionaires, we wouldn't be having a conversation about "that's an insane amount of cash". The car is what it is, regardless of what the msrp suggests.
There are opinions, and then there are ignorant comments. To suggest that E36 M3s are SLOOOOOW in a straight line is absolutely one's opinion, but it's undeniably ignorant. I would never suggest that a GT is SLOOOOOW, because they are certainly not! Anyone who has driven a low 14 second car understands exactly what I am talking about. I've been in 11 second cars, and the fact doesn't change, the M3 is a fast car, it's that simple. I just don't understand how one could honestly type that. It's like saying a lightning is slow. What gives. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, which is awesome, but that doesn't mean it's accurate.
SB5.0, regardless of what you think is fast or slow, the fact still remains the same-a low 14 second car is fast. WHY? Because the masses aren't purchasing vehicles of this nature. The masses buy the usual slower and often more mundane vehicles such as the camry, f150, corolla, accord, taurus etc... There are bike racers out there that think a 9 second pass is slow. Is it? OF COURSE NOT-that's just stupid, and it's an ignorant comment. "fast" or "slow" are relative terms, but you can never deny numbers. The M3 is not the almighty car, the 996TT is. The M3 is just an outstanding performer in almost every category imagineable-impossible to deny that fact. If your friend has a 325 that seems just as quick as an M3, then you really are on crack and have never driven in either at full throttle. They are WORLDS APART! That comparison you just said is like me saying a 6cyl stang seems just as fast a V8GT. Something is radically wrong with that statement in some form or another. I've driven dozens upon dozens of cars, ranging from Porsches to Pontiacs. Have I ever driven a car that has more than 200ft/lbs of torque? What the hell do you think we've been discussing here? The M3 has 236! Did you think it had 120?? I've driven crate 502's, 454's etc...in chevells, elks, cudas...so I do know a thing or two about torque, and those are just monsters. For the record, I have no idea what stock model of mustang from 91 has 310 rwhp, which model, and what were the specs?
"Its sad when your 60 grand car makes only 262 torque to the fly and my 91 ford makes 310 to the wheels" Firstly, I don't have a 60 grand car, and secondly, when is hitting 60mph in under 5 seconds suddenly sad? Quarter mile in the low 13's sad too? I guess there are a lot of really sad cars on this board, because guess what, the majority of forum members aren't pulling sub 5-second 60mph runs.
WOW, your friend who polled Germany in the "who likes what car from what country" category must work very hard. He deserves a huge pint of Grolsch.

E30, you are a dumbass. Even people at the BMW dealerships will tell you the same ****in thing "the e36 M3 doesnt seem all that much faster than the 328 5 speed". Get the **** out. Im not even going to bother writing a huge paragraph about how dumb you are.

Dude...wtf? Are you going to cry now? If someone has a completely ignorant opinion, they need to be called out. Don't be such a *****. People argue, that's what having an opinion is all about. Get over it.
