I also know the T/A have the steeper gear option, did the Camaros have that also? - I am asking not telling, I want to know. lol
Base automatic Trans Ams and Z28s come with 2.73 gears, but 3.23 is an option for both (my g/f's current Z28 came with them). The Trans Am WS6 and the Camaro Super Sport come with 3.23 gears standard in the autos. And like Blazer said, all 6-speeds come with 3.42s.

+1 100% accurate, HOWEVER! I know 2 guys who have verified 3.42's stock in their 98 Z28 automatic cars. One owns a shop and verified it when he pulled the gears, another (totally different state) punched his RPMS/tire size into a calculator and it spat back 3.42 exactly. 2 totally isolated incidences. I belive that GM unofficially put a few 3.42's in the 98 A4's.

If they did then that's the first I've ever heard of it. They can look at the option code list on the inside of the driver's side door to confirm that.

I do not think their codes reflected it. Very wierd, but that is already 2 people TOTALLY un-related and without knowing of each other's circumstance who have had 98's tell me that they had 3.42 A4's.
