Z28!
Holy misinformed batman!
I would go into a whole speel about it, but just check the sticky at the top of the page called "LS1." It should explain A LOT to you.
Camaro's are lighter generally. TransAm's/WS6's were typically the more "luxorious" cars vs the Camaro's. More crapolicious luxory = more weight.

ORIGINAL: whiteout 5.0
check the track tests of a WS6 Trans AM '99
and an SS Camaro '99
check the curb weight I'll bet my Mustang the WS6 will be lighter and faster. The T/A WS6 is a slightly quicker car in the 1/4 check it out i know someone can pull up a link around here someplace for me.

13.5 for a 6-speed 3.42-geared 2000 Trans Am? 13.7 for a '98 Z28? What tranny was the Z28 tested with? Your sources suck, 5.0. My sig contains numbers that I actually ran in the car that I actually own and drive every day. And my 13.52 (in a 2.73-geared auto, mind you) came with more-than-ideal tirespin; my girlfriend cut a 2.0 in her stock 2.73-geared automatic '01 Z28 and ran 13.36 @ 105. It actually happened, in April 2004 at Gateway International Raceway near St Louis. Just accept it.
When I get my header leak fixed (and hopefully some sticky tires) I'll let ya take it down the 1320 Art, seriously. It may not be until next season though because I just ran across a good deal on some wheels and tires.
Ok, im sticking my nose in here for 1 thread, lol...
I'd rather a LS1 Fbody auto over a manual anyday of the week. Most Fbodies i've seen local that were manuals, and built (inc gears) without a built axle, needed a new one very soon... I've seen auto's with stalls, gears, the works with stock axles run in the mid to low 12's... I believe the auto was a no cost option for the Fbodies which makes them much easier to find then the m6 (correct me if im wrong fbody guys). I also believe the GM auto is better then the M6... I know the LS2 GTO's autos actually run FASTER then the Manuals - well if you can launch em without getting completely sideways that is
).

EDIT: btw, I had a 3.90 geared, suspensioned bolt on 04' 2v and I would win about 3/4 of the Fbody races I raced. The ones I lost were normally not stock Fbodies, or just outdrove me... lol - I wouldn't say I "hooked" better then them, but I definatly instantly got 1-2 cars off the line on em, stupid LS1 top end.

Camaro's just suck man sorry.-just my 2 cents
I will concede that the Trans Am is the prettier car. I bought the Camaro becuase it was cheaper and had the same powertrain; I'm not about to spend thousands of dollars on aesthetics that could otherwise go into performance mods. I'm broke enough as it is.
