Back when I had my LT1, pre 05, no mustang would even come near me. My friend ran me and lost in his bolt-on/geared 5.0 (good effort though). I only lost to one mustang, and that was a highway roll with a 5-speed where I ***** footed it and didnt gas it hard enough to go into 2nd. We were doing 75 when we nailed it. The mustang downshifted and sounded damn near redline off the shift. I eased into it quickly, but not fast enough and got stuck in 3rd with 2.73 gears, lol (automatic). The mustang pulled maybe 2 cars on me by 100 or so. I was totally unimpressed given that they were ripping away at redline and I was still mid 3K's. Either way, I think his Y-body will kill 99% of the mustangs he runs against. most of the fast mustangs are track only (by fast I mean modded street Y-body fast...low 11's).
Personally, the LSx content doesn't bother me that much. The arrogance of some of the LSx posters does. Some really come off as "holier than thou" arrogant ******. Not all of them, but some. Just my opinion.

The 05 GT has great weight transfer,but handling? WAY too much body roll for my taste (used to 95 Trans Am and my modded 88 Fox).
How does Tq do anything for you? If Tq is king, then why do S2000's post the same 1/4 mile times and usually = or better trap speeds as 99-04 GT's do? The Gt makes 260hp and 302# tq, the S2000 makes 240hp/176# tq. I realize the mustang is about 400# heavier, but it has almost 125 pounds more tq. So tell me, why doesn't it have the nuts to pull an S2K at the strip or on the street (from a roll)?
They both run high 13's at around 100 mph and most S2K owners will tell you they can BARELY edge out a 5-speed GT from a highway roll (99-04). This is verified by the HONEST Gt owners who are stock and have tried it.

I think some of that is valid and some is inferred by the reader. The LSX is a great motor, but its still an F-body (depending) and its not like its a lambo, get over it, nice car, nicer engine, but its far from elite.
Aftermarket parts...Heads are SO MUCH CHEAPER for a 5.0 than anything else I know of. The LS1's are getting dang cheap to mod though,
"retro is played out" I think thats personal, I look at it mechanically and it's a great car. The only complain I HAVE is that its a porker.

You are correct, they turned bitch on me at every light I managed to catch next to them.

Heads for the LS1 are one of the last things I'd buy. Work with what the factory gave you there.
I did not mention doing LS1 heads. Those are VERY GOOD factory heads, factory 5.0 and 4.6 heads (2V) totally suck though.
Retro? I think the public has proven that Ford was right on with the retro styling. Porker...no doubt, I agree. But has anyone done any research on why? I haven't heard Ford address that issue... It is THE number 1 complaint.

) 4Stangs, the big problem I have is that you came here as a new guy and started telling us (the mods) how to run this site, and more to the point this section should be run. We have not had much in the way of trouble here latley and I would like to keep it that way. We always had disussions of other makes in this section and like it or not we always will. Most of the members here like it this way and thats not going to change because of one or two cry baby members.
