Since I am one of the resident LS1 guys here i guess I'll offer some opinions and real-world observations.
1. A properly driven '03 Cobra will whoop any LS1 fbody. Period. I know this from experience. Same track, same day, comparable drivers, '03 Cobra beats LS1. It is simply a much more powerful engine. Well-driven '03 Cobras typically run high 12's, LS1 fbods run low to mid 13's.
2. The N/A 5.7L LS6 will take out the blown 4.6, but ZO6's are a little pricey, so that's not really fair.
3. Comparing the '03 Cobra to an LS1 is really not fair for two reasons: price and model year. '03 Cobras new started around $34k, LS1 fbods (up to '02) for around $24k. Also, when comparing cars it is only fair to compare like model years. An '02 LS1 will take out a more expensive '02 Cobra. This I also know from experience.
4. If the '05 GT runs low 13's I will eat my K&N filter.

I'm not trying to bash Mustangs at all (me want '03 Cobra NOW [sm=icon_flaming.gif] ), just trying to use what I've learned and observed to help sift through some of these confusing arguments. Hope this helps.

I agree with everything fully except for number 1. as an average sure, an 03 cobra will beat an LS1 stock for stock (if you can call it that since one is FI) but I have seen stock LS1's run 12.8's and 12.9's and I have seen stock 03 cobras run 13.5's and 13.1's all in the same day. There are always exceptions but to say that an 03 will "smoke" any LS1 is a blanket staement that will not hold up. I will agree that most times the cobra will pull it off but that doesn;t mean that they will always win or even that they will win by a "smoking" distence. I fail to see where 1. or .2 is considered smoking but anywho. If an 05 GT runs low 13's I will also eat my K&N and wash it down with some of the finest gear oil I can find.

an 00' cobra is as fastas the 00' corvette Z06,the Z06 is faster than the 00' camaro SS. so figure... heres a link to prove this. 00' cobra
And the 05' gt being high to low 13's, is only what Ive heard about it, it might just be a rumor who knows.

dood you need help. an 00 cobra isn;t even as fast as an 00 fbody let alone a damn Z06.


edit thats not even a regular cobra but a cobra R which unless I am totaly mistaken is no where near teh same thing

Heh, a stock civic can beat a 02 Cobra.

Cobra R vs Cobra is what you guys are arguing about.

2000 Cobra R = true beast, 5.4 DOHC, 385 horses (what 90mustangfan referred to)
Cobra = beast, 4.6 DOHC, 320 horses (what 96lt1 referred to)

Thats what I thought. That little R makes a world of difference. at any case why is he bringing up a Z06 and cobra R, what do they have to do with any of this?

Cause there's no such thing as an 02 Cobra.

thats what I ment the 00' Cobra R, It will run with Z06's, and will definitley beat a any LS1, no but, it simply will.
