I will say that I don't think the exterior of the cars are by any means amazing, but I do catch myself staring at them when I see one.....Now I don't know if it is because I like the way they look, or I just look at other cars that I find interesting or are powerful.. who knows.

I had the oppurtunity to test drive a '04 GTO, but I didn't. So I don't have anything useful to say now, so I'll leave.

Saw a post on the first page about a DD...

If you want a DD get a skittle...21-23 mpg in the city/ 27-32 mpg on highway

If you want the feeling of the V8 underneath you- go 03/04 Cobra or 05/06 GTO. Sorry I HATE the new mustangs...but love the older body style 00-04

My DD seems to work out alright....I see 30mpg on the highway and don't have any issues until the snow is on the ground. Then I just have to take it easy.

I have no seat time in the LS1 GTO, but I have driven an LS2. If you are looking for one, try to find a good deal on the LS2 model. You won't be disappointed. I wish I could afford one as a DD right now.

There's a new chick just started working where Iwork, has an 06 GTO..........black with some nice aftermarket rims. Noice...............and her car too.[8D]

As a 2004 LS1 GTO owner, I can tell you that once you get used to a good launch, they are animals. They make awesome power all the way to 6000rpm which is the redline. Average w/good driver 2004 stock GTO's are between 13.3-13.5, and the fastest bone stock one so far has ran 13.07@107. I raced a 2006 Mustang GT to about 70 from a 10 roll and had 3/4 a car on him at 70 when I shut down and was still pulling. This guy could have been an awful driver, but this was my experience. I also raced a 2002ish Mustang GT from like 60-85 and pulled him so hard it wasn't funny. As you will read even on the GTO forum, the 2005+ Mustang GT will almost always get a GTO out of the hole (both with good drivers), but the GTO will dominate by around 80. It is probably a basically a drivers race with an 05+ GT down low against a 5.7 GTO, but the 6.0 will eat a GT up. I'm just talking from experience and am not thrashing Mustangs, I happen to love those cars! Just my $.02!

I'm not calling BS or anything, because you'd know more than I would. But those numbers seem AWFULLY fast for a car that makes a tad less power than a LS1 F-Body, is harder to launch, and weighs more.

ESPECIALLY when you consider ALOT of people who spend time at tracks on this forum say they see many many '04 GTO's in the high high 13's with significantly lower trap speeds.

I think it would be a bad move right now to start another GTO thread,so I will ask now on here. A co-worker of mine has a 2006 GTO. He says with catback,x-pipe, and tune he's putting around 450 at the crank......I did'nt think it was possible to gain that much with those minor mods.....Since he has'nt had the car dynoed I'll take it with a grain of salt.....He goes on to say that since his is a six speed manual and mine is a six speed auto that I will dyno less. Yes I know thats true , but what is it ? Maybe 10rwhp less? Fact of the matter is , he is stating he would run me signal light to signal light....What final gear ratio do the M6 GTO's come with stock? I know my A6 has a very shallow 2.56 which is great for top end but "eh" for short dig runs.....I told him that those skinnys on his car can have traction problems, but he mentioned he upgraded his tires to 9.5 inch wide 285's, which by the way are still street tires...

He said "we can line them up and find out"......My response was anytime your ready ....I guess he thought I would back down......I don't see him often (since my company is big) but I will make an effort to egg him on to run......

Any input would be apreciated

The M6 GTO hasthe 3.42 gear ratio. 450 crank hp is just a guess since he hasn't had it dynoed. He needs a little more..(headers and a real dyno tune should do the trick) Your car does have more parisitic Hploss but not enough to offset your weight advantage. The 285y tires will help him alot but you have 285s too. That 2.56 gear ratio in your car my hurt you in the early going....my prediction...0-60 his 1/4 mile yours. Also I noticed that the C6 shifts faster when you leave it in D instead of shifting...I noticed a little bit of hesitation during my test drive.

I never get involved in these kind of GTO threads....I never click on them because they are boring....kind of like a grand prix se thread[8D]
