The thread starter obviously has one intention here, and that is to flame, even if he's doing it in a subtle mannor.

Anyone who says "looks" killed the F-Body, not "performance" is off, way off. It was neither, it was the lack of all around friendliness.
I have yet to say anything bad about Ford or any of its products. This only shows the tolerance of some of the users of this site. I was merly expressing my opinion and asking a fair question. I have yet to say anything to degrade or insult the owners of Fords or like brands. I was just asking what was the hype was all about the Ford GT.( Seeing as tho for the same price you could buy a exotic or a crazy modded domestic ex. Vette Viper.) Seeing as tho it was ment to be Fords big 'halo' car and yet gits out sold by the Vette. Personally I feel if it were to be a car to get the Ford word out it would be priced for the average guy to buy it. I think that Ford should of just built off the Mustang name seeing as tho everyone knows whata Mustang is.....but thats another topic.

Oh and just about 3/4 of this site will agree with me that performance was never an issue in the F-body 4th gens. It surely wasnt that that killed the brand it was the lack of style...
Oh and heres a shocker my first car wasa Mustang! dun dun....dun!....

Look at the Mustang, Yes it is also a bang for the buck when you consider a M3 ($55K), Porsche Boxter ($55K) allthough these two cars would handle better than a Mustang GT, the acceleration difference is marginal.
You also have ot consider that 90% of racing done by the consumer is in a straight line. There is no denying this, streetfire.net wouldnt exist if people didnt have cars, cameras, grudges and a couple miles of straight road or a local cruise spot.
Yeah, if everyone lives in Kansas. If you live in the northwest or any area with a mountanous terrain it's a nice feel and a rush taking tight turnsat high speeds that you would'nt feel safe in cars equipped with a average suspention. Remember there is more than acceleration that ppl look for when purchasing a sports car.

First of all I doubt that Ford wanted everyone to own a FGT. It was only run 2 years and costs 150 large.Who cares if the vette outsold it I bet there were 10k vettes still sitting on the showroom floors. How many FGT's? AVette's price tag is negotiable A FGT is not!!BTW the F-body was dissolved because of lack of sales.. Who want's a 28k Camaro or T/A when a Vette could be had for a couple grand more?? Not bashing just the truth.. As far as performance they are pretty much equal across the board..How much will that vette depreciate over the next few years as compared to the FGT??

Hey buddy name one thing ive said that would offend you and make you say such things about me. Hell you dont even know me. I was purely asking a simple enough question and have yet to get an answer you replying in such a manor only shows your ignorance seems like you should at least post your input instead of flameing me. But it only shows your competence I have yet to say anything to offend anyone on this board.

As for the Corvette, being a 'bang for the buck car', eh, I almost think I would differ.

No car that costs more than 35-40K is a 'bang for the buck car'

take a basic Mustang GT for less than the difference between it (28K) and a Z06 (70K) you can make the GT out run, and out handle the Z06.. take a srt-4.. for less than that you can make it faster, and handle better as wel..

my opinion,,
we are talking about factory cars. you could mod a geo to make it a beast on the road course or at the drag strip, but no one goes "o damn a geo, what great bang for the buck"

the point is that you get alot of car for the price. it outperforms cars 2 or 3 times its price.
+1, You cant compare new car to modded. I could buy a miata and make it faster and outmanuver the vette for a lot less than the vette costs, but then id have a miata, and not a vette. vette would be warrentied, and more reliable.
