i'd expect low 13's in the gto. the fact is pontiac made a big hoopla about the return of the gto nameplate only to make an underpowered heavy car. the new 05 gto is the kind of gto pontiac 'wanted to make' a car that costs as much as the 04 and has bmw m3 like acceleration. if only it were lighter it would beat 03-04 cobras.

 

that was it they were riding the name plate that the baby boomers would flock to it..*L* were not that dumb

 

i work at a pontiac dealer. i was the first person to drive the 6 speed gto. it was black. it pulled pretty good and it rode pretty smooth. but i have an 11 sec mustang. but i would give the gto around a 13.8 for being bone stock which isnt too bad for a 3800 pound car. also they come stock with a 3.46 gear in the rear.

 

GTO's are just as quick as a Mach 1/Z28/TA.

I've driven an 04 LS1 GTO, it is not much slower than an F-body. The new 05 GTO LS2 on the other hand will be another story

In some cases he's right. The fastest my car went stock was 13.52, which a well-driven 6-speed GTO is capable of. A 6-speed LS1 fbody, however, can go faster than that. So yeah, the coupla guys I know that just got 6-speed GTO's could probably hang with me.

 

Over the summer I was at the track and saw one run mid 14s, but then he got his helmet (you needed a helmet if u ran 13s) and ran 13.8 or so

 

i still don't think 04 gto's are as quick as a mach1/ta/z28.
it isn't surprising to see a bone stock 99-04 gt take one out.
