Well, I've read several articles so far and yes, the new Evo is going to be a bit slower however, the handling will be insane. I'd like to point out that I don't think the Evo was really built to be a straight line performance car, but of course there are many such as myself that modded to do just that. The original versions were more built for all around performance. The X however has been built again as an all around performance car but with more comfort and amenites. Mitsubishi needs to attract a broader part of the market in order to increase sells. Hopefully the X will do this for them.
As of now though, I'm not looking to get rid of my 8 to get a X. I just can't get over the way the front of the car looks.. Maybe it will grow on me? We'll see....

ok we need to clear something up...

the EVO is a track car, not drag, so the first thing everyone needs to do, is stop judging it for the drag, that is not its purpose, im sure it will have no problem kicking a stock mustangs butt on a road course. im also sure that a true road course driver, would give up a few tenths in the 1/4 for the ability to turn harder, faster.

the looks? i like the front, it is simpleand clean, which is what i look for in cars. i hate to see flashy crap, the old evo was ok, im not saying it was bad, i just like this better. i think it looks alot more aggressive too...

the rear, i think the tail lights are a bit on the small side, and it ends up making the *** end look bigger then it is, nothing im a fan of, but i could deal.

these are only my opinions tho.

the interior is more comfy, which is nothing i care about, but im sure it will sell more because of it. most people who buy these things are no different then the majority of the public that buys any sports car. people like auto, comfy, and the ability to say "i own this" its why they make vettes auto, and almost anything else.

As has been said there not straight line cars. They are built to go round corners and do so on crappy surfaces quickly.

Reckon we will end up getting a stripped out version with a 6 speed manual and more power here though. Bit of a different Market here though. The auto style box would not sell well out here. Just like most Auto's generally do no sell well here as everyone drives Manual as soon as they start to learn to drive. The rule is here if you pass your test in an Auto you can only drive an Auto. Pass in a Manual you can drive both. So most people learn in a Manual and very few cars are given auto's on the decent engines as no one really wants them. Same with the luxury thing the most sought after STI's and EVO's here are the stripped out less luxury ones.

i agree, in the UK and europe, they drive manuals more then auto, americans however are lazy, and just like the idea of owning something, without actually knowing how to drive it. there are many americans that, if bought it, would use it for what its purpose is, but not the majority.

i mean look at the mustang, over the past 4 models, nothing engine wise has been done, its all in the gadgets and looks, they have made the dash cluster change colors, they introduced HID lights, they keep adding stupid crap, andthats why scions sell so well over here. its all about making the car customized in the looks and toy department. for the majorty, the actually driving experiance takes a back seat.

the evo is probubly exilent for what it does, and im sure europe and the UK are going to love it. americans, meh, they want leather, GPS, and A/C.

Motor trend does the same thing to euro cars, that top gear does to american... they judge them based off their mind set, when you just cant. the euro cars are for the euro mentality, the american are for the american mentality... apples and oranges. if your going to look at a car, you have to look at it for its purpose, not for what you will use if for. i found it amusing when top gear raged on the gt500 for having a live axle, but in the US, thats good, live axle is good for drags, people swap out their IRS in termys for live axle, its stronger, and if it breaks its cheaper to fix. IRS is also heavier, and u dont want that in a drag

its dissapointing... my dream mustang would be for ford to make a BOSS, gut it, hell take out the carpet, and just make it 2 nice racing seats. take the cash i would spend on all the interior, and put it into the performance. give me a big v8, doesnt need alot of HP, just let it have alot of potential. i would buy it in a heartbeat. if you take away the cash u would spend on all the looks and toys, put it into the engine, you could get a monster for a nice (about the same) price. but it wont happen, most people dont share my respect for cars in the US.

The evo doesnt need a nice 1/4 time. quarter mile runs mean absolute **** in a road course. driver mod is by far the most important, just look at auto x.

compairing something like the EVO (road course) to the mustang (drag) is stupid, you might as well compair a jeep wrangler (off road) to the mustang. or maybe a civic (economy) to it. the only true way to compair cars is to respect them for what they are made to do

I am not the one trying to act hard and claim the Evo is fast in the 1/4 ... the owners are the ones with the image confusion thing going on.

Exactly I want the Stang because its got a certain charm about it. It can be turned into a pretty good handling car and power is easy to get. Its also very cheap. However I do not expect to keep up with my friends hot hatches or EVO's, STI's when we get on the country roads. But honestly it just does not matter. I will have what I want and to me thats worth more than saying it can get to 60 in such and such a time or I can pull soo much G round a corner. There will be times when 1 is better than the other so it makes no difference. Plus I would just prefer a rarer car. Since the stangs aren't sold here it makes it more appealing. But mine will probably get modified more to go round corners than go in a straight line.
