LS1 power
ORIGINAL: viking396
How is Ford not as "Strong"?? How is a 2002 regular Z28 going to eat an '02 MT Mustang? They're too close to call, maybe an LS1 eats them but surely not the LT1 powered Z's.
Nobody disputes the GNX or the GN, they took a weak wristed POS 3.8 and turned it into a genuine hot rod, unfortunately GM doesn't know a good thing when they have it save the Corvette.
The one who has the "power" is the company still producing a viable product, GM has the Vette and the GTO, the Vette is great, no doubt about it, the GTO is selling even worse than the F-Body's did, how long before GM decides that should die as well. Having more HP doesn't make you the best deal in town...

^yeah true tommy...
but the 2002 z28/ss was not made to compete with a 2003/04 COBRA...
SO LETS KEEP APPLES WITH APPLES and ORANGES with ORANGES.
and to Nanaki... (no trouble) but to let you know a NEW 2004 GT when it came out was not $21,000.00
they are about the same price as the z28 ... about 23,000.00 or so.
and the z28 EATS the GT. hands down. nuff said.
yeah another great GM power is the GNX... amazing v6...amazing PERIOD.
FORD as not as "STRONG" as GM in power... lets all FACE IT>

How is it that people think they should argue about a subject that they have no clue about??? Unreal.

No, I'm pretty sure it said "Nickey Mantle", but the internet keeps giving me Mickey Mantle. Apparently Nickey was some car dealer back in the '60s and produced special edition Camaros, but I just wanna find more info on 'em...

You might also wanna look into the Berger Camaros, they made them in the 60's and also made a few special versions in 2002. Pretty sweet.

^you do speak the truth on that subject.... Ford does know how to sell a car...
F-Body's will never catch the mustang in sales...
...and the GTO just sells NOTHING almost.
MUSTANG= king of sales for these type of cars.
however as far as power... no.
and MT Mustang? no....
especially and auto with a converter - cant be stopped!
and yeah an Lt1 will not eat them.
I am sayign lets keep oranges with oranges....
2002 BASE Mustang GT (MT or AUTO) vs 2002 BASE z28
Z28 wins. hands down... i dont think anyone will argue that point.
and everyone on this site... screams... "MANUAL TRANNY, MANUAL TRANNY" when half of the people cant even drive them "CORRECTLY/with skills"
also it gets kind of old the 03/04 Cobra owners thinking they are GODS.
DAN is about the only cool one I can think of off hand.
04 cobra runs high 12's stock.... (really most run like 13 flats) but lets say high 12's
02 z28-T/A-Firehawk-SS run low 13's stock...(most run around 13.2-13.4 or so)
the cobra has 80 more hosrsepower and and 50 more torque
^THESE ARE THE GM and FORD DRIVERS...that came up with these numbers.
and THEY WERE NOT EVEN MADE TO COMPETE!
02 Cobra, 02 GT not as great as a 02 ls1 car.
and the COBRA was made to compete with the GMs VETTE. not with the T/A's-z28s
a z28 stock is a 23k car. brand new when they came out.
a Cobra stock is a 39k car brand new when they came out.
MSRP was $39,240.00
So i mean lets keep things in perspective here.

2003SVT Cobra Coupe
Orig MSRP$33,460
2002 Trans Am coupe

Im guessing the WS-6 package was over and above the 28K? Thats not that big of a difference

^True dat. I have about the slowest '02 Z28 you'll find (auto. 2.73 gears, driver who doesn't know how to launch
) and I still ran 13.5 stock. My g/f used to also have an auto Z28 with 2.73 gears (now she has 3.23's) and she ran 13.36 stock. A stock '02 Mustang GT will not do that. Not even close.
And if the Z28 also has a manual transmission? You don't even wanna know. Not trying to talk smack, just clarifying a point.

BTW, my dad has one of those intercooled buick Grand Nationals and I can't believe they stopped making them. Some of the most impressive American cars ever.

you're all retards. mustangs outsell all ls1 cars
you're all retards. mustangs outsell all ls1 cars
Thats becauase every 16 year old girl has one, including my sister.
Anyone with half a brain realizes the LS1 motor itself was not a major selling point to anyone, much like the 4.6 in your uber fast GT's.
