Speed or handling?
both......thats why I love mustangs[8D]
Actually that is kind of true, they have such a huge aftermarket which also includes suspension/handleing components
I have enough hp in my car now, now I am trying to make it handle decently and I would actually like to try auto crossing it this year, I have never seen a v8 car at the track here autocross

Acceleration, Cornering and Braking. I have a V6, so I'm not even going to bother with trying to gain high HP numbers, 1/4 mile times and high top speed. I'm just not interested in that.
I like things like broad tq curves, throttle response, high gear ratios, stiff (but not too stiff for street) suspension and strong stopping ability.
...and about the FWD handling better:drive a FWD car and a RWD car at or close tothe limits of its tire's traction through a corner and see which one handles better. Generally, it'll be the RWD car. The FWD's front tires will be so overloaded with having to do all the accel/cornering/braking work.
