2 losses )-:
yeah I got lost at the whole Cobra vs 3v vs S/C vs N/A post. The only thing that made sense in that post was that a Stock 2V and a Stock 3V post similar times...after that the rest was just a whole of apples and oranges...
For the OP, STI and WRX cars in general hit a brick wall at around 80-90 MPH and boost. Unless they are modded they are fully boosted at that point and will get reeled in. Most of the time though people shut down like they did either because of traffic or because the Subbie driver knows this and doesn't want to look like a chump.

It is not that at all, it is the way they say "Oh well a 3v couldn't keep up with my fully built 2v without a supercharger or big turbo." Seriously, like I said before, if your gonna compare something, don't be comparing a blown car to a NA car, it's not even close to the same thing. To be on topic, my friend with the 99 cobra has raced an Evo, which gen I don't know, but he beat it pretty good from a roll.
yes bolonie pony and 35thaniGT i have to agree, 3v's are much faster than 99-04 when you compare stock to stock, mod for mod. It's not a circle jerk, it's the truth. Nobody was saying you can't make a 2v faster, you just can't mod for mod, but if a 2v has a S/C for instance, I'd hope it would blow the N/A 3v away.
The truth is that other than a small handful of guys on the INTERNET, most 3vs dont run much if any faster than the 2vs.
Thats what 35th was getting at.
You can get a clean 2v for 7-12k all day long, but an 05+ 3v is about 18-25k for a used one still.
Thats too much bank considering the marginally better motor/suspension.

Simply by looking at the specs of the two cars...the S197 GT should be faster. I'm sure a New Edge GT would be in the mid 13s with another 40hp...although the S197s have a lot more to offer than just another 40hp.
They just don't feel quick right out the showroom floor, however.

S197=a LOT more Stang for the money.
I say the above, and I'm old-school. Nothing lights my fire like the torque and the throttle response of a solid-built pushrod OHV engine. But, c'mon, now.....How many 3V & 4V engine owners do you see doing engine swaps for engines with less valves? Not too many; I'd bet.
I don't think it has anything to do with what people can/cannot afford. I think it has more to do with people defending what they own due to a self-created psycological barrier that disallows people from using their common sense. You can get a new edge rolling chassis for dirt cheap and I've seen entire V8 drivetrains off of S197s on eBay for $3k.

after the beating you give him.
