Best handling car I have ever driven was BY FAR the Rx8. For my type of racing, I wouldn't even think about using any other car than that If I was racing around of course.

IDK if it's the really narrow steering rack, or what it is. I just got in my new manual rack for my car, we'll see if I can't get it to the point where those Rx8's are.

INSANE HANDLING.

yes I might be slightly drunk

AHAHAHAH, I didn't even read the rest of the thread, I lost it right here. Sorry JD

Nice kill, they're pretty slow cars though. I'd say my 3.8 catfish could beat one

That was my impression of the car as well. I couldn't deduce whether it was the amazing handling/braking/telepathic steering feedback characteristics of the car itself or just that the underpowered motor never seemed to let things get too out of hand. It's an intricate balance to create something like that and I'm not sure I'd prefer the sledgehammer force of an LS1 in that car any more than I would more power out of that rotary. That thing spins up so beautifully that I think I would prefer 338 rotary hp over 350 LS1 hp in the RX8. Either way, it's an underpowered motor in an otherwise awesome drive...

How do those things compare in terms of handling to a Mazda Miata? My mom used to have a 1999 miata and that thing handled amazingly well stock.

RX-8s are slow as crap. I raced one with bolt ons when I was stock. It was funny cuz he pulled up and was talking all kinds of crap, telling me my car is a high 14 second car and he runs low 14s all day and blah blah blah So I was like ok let's race then... I put a length between us before I even got to 2nd in my STOCK GT. I didn't even bother finishing out 2nd, it wasn't even close.

Off topic... but, I would like to see an other Mazdaspeed Miata. They should throw in the motor from the MazdaSpeed 3. They need something to compete with the Solstice GXP. I liked the old MS Miata, it just needed more power.

the Miata is a much better auto-x car. you turn the steering and the car turns RIGHT THE HELL NOW. the RX8 is a little slower to turn in, a little more sloppy (because of the fairly high curb weight). the RX i would take on a road course though.

They handle really well but I would never choose that car over something like the S2000 or 370Z. Both those have actual engines that make some type of power and handle better.

I like both the S2K and the 370Z better as well but I would argue the RX8 handles better. Purely my opinion...

I'll take a 93 Turbo FD Rx7 please. Handling + power = win.

Not to mention the fact that the engines are practically EVERYWHERE in the junkyards now, so you can blow one up, go out, and get another one for practically NOTHING.

Great car line, I really wish they could have improved on the Rx7, and used the same body lines.

Like I said, we'll see if my car steps up handling wise when i get my Manual steering rack in. It's a closer ratio than the stock one, and it'll put my car at almost a PERFECT 50/50 weight balance.
