Man, I am not going to be much help here... I had the same problem after replacing the pads on my 97 (dang it if everything didn't look just fine down there after the install), so then I got despirate and took it to Ford. They told me that I needed new front rotors and pads (that is the kicker, the pads were new)... so I bought some via the aftermarket and had them install them (I hope that it pissed them off that I didn't go with stock Ford parts)... Now she stops on a dime and doesn't make any noise... sounds like Ford has some kind of secret bull shize going on here... I would love to hear what you come up with on the fix for yours... I am feeling like I got jacked!

Default RE: brakes????

i did the brakes on my 99 cobra a few weeks ago and put on the bear decela rotors(slotted and cross drilled) and PFC performance friction pads(standard pad is just a regular semi metalic) on. the new pads came with the pad clips but not the pins most brakes you buy will not come with the new pins just the clips. I am a manager at AutoZone and i got it all though there. for some reason the rear pads were harder to get a hold of. the ones for a gt are identical but they are a thicker pad witch will not work. so i got those somewere else.

the noise could becaused by a bent or loose or missing pad clip, if those were not put back on that would let your brake pads move arounfd just enouph to make noise and rattle. you should be able to pick up disc brake hardware kit with the new clips in it. they are easy to put on. also make sure everything is tight and it just isn't something coming loose.

when i replaced mine i noticed these clips go behind the brakes and keep them from moving around i did not put one on one side and it made a rattling, i realized that i left it out and put it in and it stopped. that might be the problem

i believe this was the problem. Went to an autozone type store and bought two sets of front brake hardware. It came with these clip things that take up space between the claiper and the claiper housing. They were rattling together. Fixed the problem and they don't rattle one bit. Thanks for all the help guys. It was a S looking clip that hooked right on the claiper.
