Just my 2 cents worth, but I wouldn't put Mac on my car if someone gave it to me for free. Do some research and you may find out it's risky to try Mac Long tube headers. I don't have time to go into it, but you can e-mail me if you wish, and I will elaborate. Again, just my 2 cents worth...........
I don't know man.. I've been running mac headers on my car for awhile now and I haven't had any problems with them whatsoever. They work great for me.

They may be fine on your car. I've heard some cars having no issues at all with them. However, My son bought a 03 Mach 1, and had Mac Long tubes put on it. Well his engine locked up on him after approx. 2000 miles. Ford installed a new engine, and after approx. 2000 more miles, I can't remember exactly, it locked up with him. Ford installed another new engine, and this time my son had the long tube headers removed and has had no issues what-so-ever. The Ford dealership kept claiming that the oil pump was failing, and even had the engine sent off for inspection to verify this. A theory was that the Mac Long tubes were drafting too much exaust and it was de-priming the oil pumps. Whether this is true I am not willing to say.......It does sound a little fishy, but the proof is in the pudding, and since I witnessed this first hand, I will never put anything Mac on my car. I've also heard that it is just subject to happening on some engines, such as the engine in the Mach 1, but I'm not taking any chances with my 03 Cobra..........Again, this is just my own opinion.................

I have the full Bassani set up right now and I plan on making this car my show/toy car when I get a daily driver so I think I might just hold off on the mac headers for now and go top of the line later on down the road. But now the question I have is, should I keep the 01 drop top and do everything I can to it (forged internals, cam, pulleys, heads, etc....) or should I get an 04 down the road and build that up? Is the block I have now better than the cast iron in the 04?

I have read many many times how the aluminum block in the 99 and 01 Cobras will withstand 700 horsepower without any issues. It is also lighter than the cast iron block. If you re-do the internals with forged, I don't see anything wrong with that. I would trust it to hold up.

why did they go wit the cast iron block in the 04? Its not stronger is it? and its defenitely not lighter.
