03 Shortblock ?
i'm looking at an 03 Cobra Shortblock thats selling locally near me. The guys says it has 3k miles, the person ran it lean, and said 2 of the pistons are bad. he said the cylinder walls look good and just would need a hone, not a bore.
He is asking 900, might go lower. what do you guys think about this? am i getting myself into a box of worms? if it did run lean and damage 2 pistons, are there other problems that occur as a result? is this as simple of buying a new set of rings, and 2 pistons, and a hone job?
I plan on throwing on a Kenne bell next year in my '01 and would prefer forged rods and pistons so i can run more than 5psi.
Thanks

RE: 03 Shortblock ?
i've never had engine work done before, so i don't know what exactly it costs. i can get a nice MMR900 for $2800. What would it cost me if i brought my shortblock to an engine shop to have them put in forged rods and pistons(that i supply). I would like to keep my aluminum block especially if its a teksid(yet to determine this).

well if u bring ur whole car to the shop, and have them do everything.... it would cost about $6000. But it would be alot cheaper, if u just brought them the shortblock, have them build it, and then install everything urself

Modular Performance will build 'your' short-block for $3k (+ shipping costs). if you try to find your own shop, you have to wonder how much expertise they have with modular motors, +$1000 labor, +$1500 parts +/- anyway. How much are you 'really' saving? I may be wrong.
