Fobra badging on a GT
#191
It's MoTard, for Retarded Motorist. I'm not sure where I heard it first but I've said for about 10 years.

Imo its your car and do what you want. Your going to get alot of haters, but when they see your car in person guess what they are going to say... nice cobra, b/c it is a cobra... as if there is something magical about a cobra.. its not a different car, its a mustang.
that said it is still a GT on paper, and trying to sell to some as a cobra would be immoral and illegal.
I wouldnt "save up" to buy a cobra when you can do a clone and have the same thing and better for less money... hence my latest project ... the Fobra. But I dont lie to anyone about, if they ask its a Fobra... But I dont see why anyone would have a problem with whatever others do, if a dope in a v-6 slaps a snake on there - I think its pretty funny and thank them for the humor. But I think that if you spend the money to do a conversion and put on "cobra" parts then you have every right in the world put cobra badges on it... just as anybody who buys a mustang and takes it to roush or saleen to have their cars worked over. If we drove Ferraris then it would be one thing, but we dont. I could have bought an 03 cobra, but the car is not worth it to me, I would be paying a premium price to only turn around and replace everything.
So anyway if you did a complete - A to Z conversion of a 03 GT into an 03 cobra - identical in everyway, then I think that you should label it what it is... an 03 cobra and sell it accordingly (if people will pay that much) as a complete 03 cobra conversion. Thats my .02 and im not here to argue b/c I already know Im right .... but thats my opinion

Did your GT come with a handbuilt engine from SVT? Nope so it is not the same in everyway. I respect that you tell everyone its a FOBRA but save sell your GT and buy a real Cobra. Just like a "clone" car may be identical in everyway, it's still not an original

First off it is cheaper... trust me...
second those "fake parts" are the same ones made by Ford... you can cry all you want - they are same the thing, that fact is undenieable.
The only logical point you have is that the serial numbers wont show that it is a cobra... but then all you would have to do is open your eyes and look at it... hey my chewing gum has a serial number to.... it must be something special!

the cobra motor you swap in to it would be the same "hand built" engine... not that it is necessarily even a good thing
