I run Castrol High Mileage or GTX in mind (I switch between the two) and a Mobile 1 filter. Whatever you do, NEVER run a Fram filter in your car. I found out it was robbing me of oil pressure. Just by changing my filter I bumped up 10psi at idle.

Understang
I paid 14900. Is usually never pay the asking price for a car, but this wasn't one of my typical car purchases. This was a MUSTANG COBRA..lol
I have owned 15 Mercedes, bmw's, jaguar and Porsche, and there hasn't been anyone close to how I felt about my 1988 LX5.0.
The day I sold that car I regretted it and said to myself, if I ever found a nice mustang, I would get it..this is something I dreamt about.

Of course, there may be plenty of other cars that use a different specific brand name from the factory, but I have been happy with Mobil-1. My last car was an 01 Cobra that had Mobil-1 in it for the 36,000 miles that I had it (72,000 total) and it ran great. Before that I had an LS1 that I took to 175,000 miles with Mobil-1 and the engine seemed to be in great shape when I sold it. Not a professional analysis I know, but I've never had reason to mistrust Mobil-1. And specifically, I've never noticed increased temp or clattering like the guy above did...
That '85 GT I had was extremely finicky about the oils, fuel and plugs I used in it. It had a high volume/high pressure oil pump in it (80 psi @ idle), so by simply changing oils, I could immediately tell the difference on my gauge.

Same with the fuel. I once had to get gas at Citgo (horrible fuel), which I specifically did not want to because I had bad experiences before with them, but had to to get to the Mobil station down the road. And wouldn't you know it, I didn't make it but 150 yds. away from the station before my car stalled out. I barely got it restarted and drove approx. 1 mile before it stalled again. I finally made it to the Mobil station, filled up with their premium, and wouldn't you know it, my car ran like a top. I went back to that Citgo and complained about their crappy fuel. The guy behind the counter said " you were never here!" Yeah right, like you wouldn't notice a car that loud. (2.5" straight duals to 2 chamber flows --no cats).

As for plugs, it only wanted autolites (Motorcraft). I tried running Champions --it melted them down, electrode and all. Got a different set --melted those too. I finally had to get Autolite 33's, non-resistor racing plugs, and it ran great.

Like I said, it was a really finicky car.

Mobil one seems to get ALOT of bad reviews since changing their basestock a little while back, for over-the-counter oils minus RP, I would run the new Pennzoil Ultra, read more on bobistheoilguy.com.

I used Mobil 1 full synthetic and M1 filter in my 04 GT onle because that's what the previous owner always ran in it. I just picked up a 03 Mach 1 and was always serviced at a dealer and thus would use Motorcraft synthetic blend and Motorcraft filter...boy i don't miss spending $50-$60 for Mobil 1 stuff and I just did a oil change on the mach and it was $27 with parts from Ford dealer.

I figure Ford designed and used synthetic blend from day 1....why change it. The money I save on oil changes goes to paying for gas at $3.35 LOL

yea if you have 3-4k mile oil change intervals the motorcraft is the best bang for the buck by far.
