Now you're getting specific. So instead of pining about 700 HP, identify a car that you see doing as well as you would like and go ask what they have going. Don't reinvent the internal combustion engine. You may find that a full on FI build is really more than you need.
I suspect a mild upgrade in the camshaft area, with a little bump in compression and you'll see the results you are after. If you get carried away here, you could sacrifice your low speed performance that you like.
