It's time for my '01 Cobra to come back to life
A few years ago it rained pretty hard where unfortunately it was one of the worst nights ever and the last time I drove my beast. From my drive to the gym, To my work, to my house is was slowly taking in water through the cool air intake. That resulted in going through a road where a lake-like puddle and needed to go through which was literally behind my house. Kick. Kick. It then died in the middle of the road. FML. Motor is hydro-locked and has been sitting that way since. Has gone through a lot of theft to.
Anyways it time for it to come back to life and need advice on where to begin or what's the best solution for what I'm after.
Before taking in water to the motor, my synchronizer on my transmission gave out and now it kicks out of 2nd gear. So I also need a transmission rebuild to.
Since I'm going to be spending some money I might as well build it the way I want because I refuse to sell or let it go.
I'm contemplating on keeping it naturally aspirated, but would loooooove to have it as an 03/04 Termi build. That would mean change transmission, fuel pump, computer, among many changes I'm unaware of.
Just did some searches and a coyote 5.0 with a tremec 6-spd will cost a cool 14k which is waaaay more than I'd like to spend on top of what I'm sure I'd need to spend to have it sit in my car so I think I'd say bottom line I'll pay 6-7k and I think that would get me running again. This will be over some years but I have about 2k to get me started.
What I'm after:
-more than the 300HP stock
-drivability like a daily driver
-avoid any unnecessary fabrication or modifications
I appreciate any input or help on where to get started or even sharing your personal builds.
Thanks for looking!
When it was in it's it's glory days
