That's what I decided this year! I can handle the snow, just go slow and don't be an idiot. And 9 to 10 months of the year when the snow isn't flying, I'll enjoy my commute much more.
Then again, on nice Fridays it's always fun to take the GT downtown to work. Passing parked cars in the parking garage and the lopey idle from the Comp Thumpr's setting off car alarms. lol

California, Texas, Florida, Oklahoma, Missouri and Oregon are just a few to name off where prices are pretty low.
The prices are regional though, here in Springfield everything is sky high, but in Kansas City or St. Louis its cheaper.
Cali, Texas and Florida are probably the best three states to keep a close eye on for great deals. I have seen Epic deals in Texas and most of our local dealers seem to go to auction there the most.
I went to Oklahoma for my 01' sixxer and only paid $2200 for it (Booked for $7k Retail last year when I bought it) and we went to Kansas City for the 01' 4Motion Passat and paid $4300 for it (Booked for $9k retail)
If I bought either of those here I would have paid retail for both, hell I even saw a Passat just like ours WITHOUT AWD or Leather or the GLX package or the Kickass Bumpin Monsoon Audio and had 60,000 more miles than ours AND was a 1.8T Manual and they wanted $6k for it and it sold last week. x_x
So when your in an area where prices are high, just like everyone already said, you have to shop outside of that area.

Yep thats what Im doing. Searching anywhere, even if I have to spend $500 to $800 to get it shipped to me, or fly out and drive back, if I save $3 to $5k on purchase, well worth it.
When I bought my 06 GT 3 years ago, I had it shipped to me from Oregon to Oh. Got it for $14.5k with 26K miles and exact color and interior I wanted. That was a smoking deal as those prices are starting to be realized now and I scored it 3 years ago. Almost all my friends with late model S197's paid 4 to 6k more.

I think I made my choice on wheels. Instead of black, I'm going anthracite. Roush made a set for SEMA waaaaaaay back in the day, and they ended up on one of the first Cobra's done (a '94). Thankfully it's a black car so I can see what they'd look like. Think I'm putting the black car's wheels on the white car, and doing this to the white car's wheels to go on the black car. This is one of the few pics I could find of the car with them on it.
