We have insurance for it, but they don't cover it all (usually you end up paying a percent of it). We'll still owe about the cost of a used Mustang when it's all said and done... bummer b/c we had just caught up on paying off her being born. LOL
Because it's the only one like it
If it helps, that blue '95 that I was looking at sold for the $40K asking price. It's at a collector in FL now. That being said, in the regualr market banks will take blue book of a premium GT for that year, and then usually add about 50% of the modification cost from Roush back then. As an example, if Roush added $10,000 to the final bill of sale for a given car, they would add $5,000 to book to figure out loan value. Downside is that doesn't take into account the "1 of" type cars.
Just for fun, let's do quick math: According to the artile 5.0 Mustang Magazine did back then, 1998 GT Mustang sold for $19,970. Fully loaded Roush was listed at $39,135. So that's $19,165 added. NADA for a '98 GT right now is $6350. Take that and add $9582.50 (half of the original Roush mark up) and you get $15,932.50 that a bank will tell you it's worth for the loan.
Edit: More to the mix - there's a BAB Stage 2 (4.6L 5 speed, non supercharged, no Roush leather, no brake upgrades) for sale right now on FNSweet for an asking price of $17,000. Market on the old ones is going up every day just because of how rare they are getting.
