I had no problem in Minnesota last winter (stock all season tires, no ABS or TCS).

Just took it easy on the throttle, and when we had the snow/ice blizzard, I drove the wife's civic.

I might look into a LSD before this winter just to help avoid getting stuck. If I'm feeling spendy I might buy an extra set of wheels to keep snow tires on.... I don't want to buy extra tires and have to swap every year.

Question: Does it wear out a LSD prematurely to have different sized tires on the car in the summer vs. winter?

Ok. It is early, but whats a good place to get snow tires? I was just looking at www.tirerack.com and got a total of about 650 for 4 blizzak's with alloy rims shipped to my door. Any ideas on where to get the tires cheaper? And I assume prices will go down as winter comes around?

I had my stock 16" wheels and tires and put 90lbs of kitty litter in the trunk and I was fine.

I got mine 1/7/06, so I got a bit of experience last winter with the snow and ice. Snow really wasn't too bad, IMO, but that was with stick (which I believe makes a difference). We got one ice storm either at the end of Jan. or early Feb., so I took the Stang out intentionally to a local school's parking lot (it was Saturday night...not to freak anyone out) to see how it would handle. Frankly, I wasn't all that disappointed. As reedx032 said, just take it easy on the throttle. I could kick the back end out, and the back wheels slipped a bit, but I'd just let off the throttle and usually start from a stop in second gear.

Honestly though, this car handles thousands of times better than my '88 T-Bird did.
