Best decision buying a new carI ever made was to buy my first Mustang 2 months ago. You should do the same.

You should consider looking into getting a slightly used one. 2005s can be found for as low as $13k and 2006 can be found for 14500. Look hard. As for dealerships, with the incentives going on right now you should be able to get a 2007 with what you want for 19k. Look up edmunds.com and bring those figures to the dealer and offer them a 5% profit off of their actual (not invoice) cost.

RE: I want a Mustang, but...
Well I had received 3 calls this morning from 2 different Ford dealerships. The guy who originally offered me the car for 376 a month with 3000 down (taxes and bank fees included) and refused to bargin, has now come down to 319 a month with 3,500 something down. In addition to that, another dealership called and brought up my college e-mail address, I was expecting him to give me the credit runaround, instead he went on to inform me that there is actually a college rebate that I had no idea I was entitled to, and then claimed that low 300s with 3000 down (including taxes and bank fees was possible) and we basically have an appointment for Saturday. Do you know what this rebate entails?

Winter driving with rear wheel drive is not a big deal, and I actually prefer it - they are much better at communicating road conditions. FWD will sneak up and bite you, trust me. The only type of drive system I'd prefer in snow is AWD, but they don't make a Mustang like that yet.
I drive country 2-lane roads every day to work and it still doesn't pay to have something other than RWD.
The car is a little cramped when I start trying to fit lots of cargo in it, or large items. But, aside from that, I don't think it's impractical as a daily driver.

My pony is my "commuter car" for work...
190 miles a day.
50,000+ miles since April 2006...
Just scheduled maintenance and "modifications"...
The fuel pump and MAF were because of my insistance... LOL
Most fun I've had with a car...

RE: I want a Mustang, but...
I just bought a new Mustang a month ago, and absolutely love everything about it. Especially the audio system. I forgot what it was like to drive something that gets looks. It's a V6 Pony Package, Interior Upgrade, manual, leather, ABS/TC. I paid 19,000. My payments are 319/month with 0 down. But since I'm buying, i will be paying for 6 yrs.
Im glad to be a Mustang owner again. I sold my '84 Mustang a few years ago, and have missed it ever since. It was a beater, but it never broke down once in the 5 years I had it. It just needed a lot of maintenence..
I've never had to drive a RWD in the snow cause it rarely snows here but it doesnt seem like it would be too bad with the ABS/TC
