2005 V6 Very sluggish start
Was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to what the cause of my poor starts are. It only has 44000 miles on it and have done nothing as far as mods are concerned. When I turn the key it takes a good 3-4 seconds to catch. I have heard every possible reason from bad fuel filter fuel pump, battery change or fuel injectors needing to be cleaned. I went ahead and changed the battery since i could do it myself but it did nothing in the way of quickening the start. Is anyone having this problem on their 05. Thanks for any possible help.

Had the same problem. It is the fuel pump. There is a TSB out for it. Had the dealer replace fuel pump/sender assy and put in new fuel filter(supposed to be replaced every 15k miles) haven't had a problem since.

Thanks for the information. I was afraid it was going to be the fuel pump. I hope the dealership will handle this for me without any hassles, however since i got the car used I can only assume they will try to give me the runaround.

I believe fords warranty's transfer with the car - so you should be set on warranty provided you aren't past the mileage limit.
I don't remember what they do for 3 years... but I'd bet it's something liek 3 years 36K... which I think is stupidly low... it should be 3yrs/45K miles... personally... I opted for the 5yr 75K warranty since I plan on keeping the car no less than 5yrs (knock on wood). If not... i can't imagine it's THAT big of a hastle to replace... just a saturday's worth of work at worst about $150 in parts i'd guess. I've had to replace one or two... they are a pain to change... but it's still something you can do in a garage with some jacks and stands.

So all along it was the fuel pump/sending assembly unit. And they did go through he back seat to get to it. I am much happier now, was starting to think I bought a big fat lemon! Got the GT front & rear swaybars put on and the mechanicdrove it when he was done. He was "holy crap thatcar is loud and it hauls A@@" He has a 96 Cobra SVT convertableand said my V6 would run circles around his. Made me feel good! He also looked it over pretty good and said everything was done proffessionally and the Magnaflow system was top notch.
bowiel: if it isyour fuel pump, from looking at my receipts, it cost $376 for the part + labor on top of that. Luckily, mine was under warranty. We got an aftermarket warranty on our other vehicles from Continental Warranty, and it is just as good as the factory warranty. You may want to check into it for the mustang.

With 44k miles, have you done routine maint. to it? Like changing the fuel filter, and the air filter and such. If either get too dirty they will restrict performance of the car. Both will cause bogging issues.
