RE: anybody running 20k+ a year with an 05???
We orderedour 2006 v6 pony in September and picked it up at the end of October of 2005. As of this morning we have just under 57000 miles on it (time for another oil change). We put 36k miles on it in the first 12 months. We expect to be just under 70k miles at the 2 year mark.
It is a DD and the normal daily round trip route is 4 miles dirt, 18 miles on 2 lane,30 miles freeway ( mostly a 75mph zone) and 26 miles of city driving. We have only gone on one long trip (round trip of < 1000 miles). We drive about 200-300 miles every weekend (just going into town and back).
The average MPG we get is about 24-26mpg. If I drive nice and take the mustang to my work (instead of Yolanda's work) which is all freeway, I can average right @ 30mpg (I have to work at it to keep it above 30 overall)
In general, its been great.. We have a few creaks in the dash (nothing bad, I can push on the center section and make it go away, so I may take it off and put some foam in there).
Mechanically, its 100% stock except for the GT takeoff muffler we put on way back @ 20k miles. and the meter4it chase lights.
Oil changes every 3k (free from dealer) for the first 48k miles.. Rest have been at 5k intervals and are mobil 1 with motorcraft filters. Only other work has been air filters (cabin and engine), and a few tire changes (We like the pirelli tires so I bought 2 spare sets of takeoffs) and wiper blades (change them twice a year). The fuel filter will be changed this weekend.
All in All, we love it and are glad we got it.. We are even thinking of getting a 2nd one (so I can drive one to work all the time), but we like having no car payments (1st one is paid off already).

Bought 5/06 with 28K, 45K now
Only problem I've had is a dead tail light bulb, which was causing the right blinker to blink faster than the left. Other than that, I think the car runs as strong as ever.
