Default A little help with a decision.

The only thing I've done to my 2007 convertible is the FRPP CAI and dual exhausts. I have two more performance mods planned but I don't want to do them at the same time as I like to see the individual effects of each before moving on. My problem is deciding which I want to do first.

I plan on putting in 3:73 gears and a t-loc. I'm not building a race car. I just like having a little more bottom end grunt for around town driving.

I also plan on changing to a one piece aluminum drive shaft. I hear that they provide for a much smoother and quieter drive train, and at age 60 that appeals to me; therefore, this is more for this reason than as a power adder, not to say that additional performance wouldn't be appreciated.

So which option will be the most apparent, keeping in mind that I am going to do both.

Gears are easily going to give the bigger performance boost. They may cause some added noise though. The DS will add some smoothness and somewhat quieter drivetrain as you noted.

I would get the gears/t-lok first because I think you will notice the improvement of the driveshaft more after you install the gears.

i also say get the gears/tlok first for obvious reasons u will immediately feel the performance boost after u break em in. the driveshaft is not necessary but will be great to get AFTER.

Do the gears & t-lok next, but hold off on the DS and use that money for a CAI and tune. There are some good package deals from Brenspeed, Bama, VMP, and Evolution Performance. Plus, with the handheld tuner you can adjust the speedometer for the new gears.

I already have the CAI with an SCT X3 with a BamaChips 93 octane torque tune on the car. Sorry I left that info about the tune out. I guess I was just considering it part and parcel of the FRPP CAI.

How much does a new drive shaft run?
