Default Stupid Gauge!

I took my 2005 V6r outa storage, warmed it up to temp.......and no movement on the coolant gauge! RRrrrrrRrRrRrrrRrrrrRrrr!

So, I went asearching on many sites. Contemplated the 6 gauge my color option. Local dealer is unfimiliar with the conversion. They wanted $90 just to hook up for diagnosis.

Thought I'd see if my Xcal 2 would datalog something. Then it kept bugging me.

Took apart the dash. It was quite easy. Took apart the cluster. Again quite easy. Took apart the temp. gauge motor. Easy. The nylon gears are binding on a little magnetic gear. I messed with it. Put it back together and IT WORKS!

The stealership wants in the neighborhood of $400 to RR a cluster. What a cluster that'd be for one gauge.

Here's a pic of the before.

my fuel guage went on the fritz a while back, reading upside down. i took it apart, and the magnet was broken. idk how tht happned, but it did. so i bot a new cluster off of one of the guys on the ********** for $40 and swapped it out in 25 minutes, and while i had it out i decided it was a good time to put my aluminum face gauges on too. y the hell not ya know.

Yep, the OEM guage cluster quality sure isnt
AutoMeter quality but the price is???
The headlight switch is of the same lackluster quality.

A beautiful day, think I'll start her up. DooOOoooooHhh the gauge is sticking a little after woking well for at least 12 restarts last night. I found a guy called the digital man on ebay that sells the updated stepper motor for the 2005 Mustangs. Only $7.50 each plus $ 4.50 shipping.
I sound like a commercial.
Thought it should be a cheap fix.
