Where to connect the grill lights

Where to connect the grill lights
Hi, I am new to this forum and have a question. I have 2009 V6 Mustang. I bought a grill with two halogen lights on it. Each light has a H3 (12V/35W) bulb on it. I connect the halogen light to the main light on the car on each side. However, when I turn on the main lights, the main light and the grill light on the passenger side will shut off after a few minutes. Seems like the circuit of the main light has a over load protection.
So, my questions is: can I adjust the over load protection, if there is one, to allow the connection of the grill lights? If this is not possible, where should I get power for the grill lights?

Wow. The circuit for the main lights has a simple fuse protecting
the wiring and thats about it. The high beams go thru a relay in
the BEC under the hood and the low beams are controlled by
Solid State devices in the SJB on the pass side kick panel.
Stop that before you overload the SJB and it requires replacing.
It is probably already damaged after the few minutes it was on.
There is no protection as you mention. Thats the actual output
device overheating and shutting down from excessive heat.
The SJB controls lots of stuff and are EXPENSIVE.
Pull the power for the fogs from the battery thru a Fog Light Relay
AND fuse the supply. Turn the relay on with one of the headlight wires.
Hi or Low beam, your choice. Or get a GT headlight switch that has the
fog light option on it and get it done the OEM way.
There are wiring kits available for $75 or so on eBay.
More if you get the OEM GT headlight switch...
Seems you want to do this the cheapest and dirtiest way.
Maybe use the search function since this has been discussed
over and over and over...

Following 157 dB's instruction, I use the relay method to install two fog lights one the grill. Use the yellow light on the bumper to control the relay and take power from fuse box. Now the two fog lights are on when light switch is on park/low beam/high beam, which is what I wanted.
This installation does not cost me anything as I have a relay and wires already. No need to change the light switch also.

Yep, the best install is when it performs like YOU want it to.
You also cannot leave the fogs on by accident as is the
case when you add a additional accessory switch to the mix.
The dash will a ding ding you when you exit and the parking
lights are on (as well as the fogs).
I have mine wired to the GT headlight switch and the fogs
also default to on when the high beams are activated even
if the fogs are off...

PonyPackages might have the switch and wiring,
but YOUR non foglight programmed SJB does not
have the foglight logic to make it happen.
Its the age of the computer controlled lighting.
It just wont work unless you get FORD to
configure your SJB for the fog light logic...
Been there, done that...

FYI/questions guys...
It was my understanding that fog lights were not suppose to work when your high beams are on. All of my vehicles that have factory fogs automatically shut off the fogs when the highs are turned on. This includes my 2006 mustang.
I always thought it was some kind of safety thing. Generally in really foggy conditions, your high beams almost blind you.

fricken caps lock
of the headlight switch when the high beams are on.
But fork the govt and the Ford guy who wrote the SJB logic
and have it your way at Burger King and by-pass all that.
I like the local area lighting that the 'fogs' provide while
the high beams are on illuminating the road AHEAD of
the vehicle. Also the 'fogs' as Ford likes to call them are
really not 'fog' lights. They are mounted way to high to
get under the fog to illuminate the road and NOT the fog
thats floating just above the road surface. Also traditional
'fogs' are yellow in color for a reason. Ford didnt like the
yellow look nor the functionality of lower mounted 'fogs'
but instead went for the appearance over function approach
to selling cars. It seems to have worked on the S197 but we
all got stuck with those questionable decisions Ford made.
I like to call the 'fogs' "a way to make-up for the lousy headlights
the S197s have". V6es without 'fogs' as Ford calls them are
not fun to drive at night unless you are VERY familiar with
the roads.
Its me vehicle and I want it like I want it (within guidelines).
Its gotta look OEM and be fully removable without damage.
