ordering regrets?
That 3.5L you know is only going to push about 210 at the rear wheel. Thats about 40 more HP at base then the 4.0L SHOC which I guess means alot when it comes down to the final mods like SC but in my eyes not that much to drool over. Something to drool over would be if they could pump out about 230 ,235 HP at the wheel like the 2006 eclipses. That car pisses me off. 265 HP thats freakin crazy!!! I know its only got to be about 230 at the wheel but DAM!! I have not raced one yet and doubt I'll even try untill I get my gears, tlock and tune my car to all the previous listed mods that I have and I'll still be barely nipping at his heels I bet lol.
What year do they put that engine in the Mustangs? Thats gunna be great having to mess with those on the street.
I guess after I rethought it that engine will be nice cause after all the money I just sank into my car Ill barely be at 210 meybe!! and they'll have that stock. Dam now were all gunna feel like the people who have the 3.8L's lol Feel like we got Gipped lol for the engine. Atleast we'll still have the same body style, thats pretty much why I bought the car in the first place. I had to settle for a V6 cause of insurence and riceburners are not my style. I respect them but there are not me. Im more a Camaro or Mustang type dude. I did'nt know they were only about 165 170 at the wheel ( with a manual) I thought that 210 was at the rear wheel so that kinda busted my bubble after I bought it but im over it. Hopefully im at atleast 187 190 at the wheel with out a tune. with a tune I hope im in the at least 200 HP range

I was looking at the fog lights for that pony package for the 06 personally i think it looks like ***, the fog lights are too small and they have that crome sh.....t with a black grill. To me it looks nasty but like many will agree, this is just a comment and Its your ride. If you really want the fog lights there are alot kits out there with all the GT Bumpers and what not if thats what you want.
The only regret I have is not purchasing a Mustang sooner. I purchased a Pontiac G6 in March 2005 and got rid of it in November 2005 for the 2006 Mustang. I did get the car for $100 over invoice and it had the interior upgrade package and sport upgrade package. Held out for the Performance White and literally they drove it off the trailer and I bought it. Can't complain...
Well, just got a 2006 Pony Package automatic, Torch red, leather, side airbags, upgraded interior. It's for my wife. Had to wait about a month and a half. Used the Ford X plan pricing, no hassle, fantastic price. Get this....we traded in a Volvo S70 for it! How often does it happen that one trades a european car for an american car? Virtually never according to the stuff I've read, and there's good reason for that. Namely the car lacks many standard items we've grown to be accustomed to as standard in european cars. Not that I'm complaining because the car is so cheap, but it is annoying me (my wife couldn't care less) as follows:
Now I know this is a "heritage car" so these are observations based on comparison with my owned modern cars, not based on comparison with predecessor Mustangs.
-no heated seats (actually it's the one thing my wife misses)
-no sunroof (we dislike convertibles, they are useable only about 14 days of the year where I live, plus we have a Porsche 911 targa for those days)
-no memory seat
-the seat back-rake-adjustment is a primitive lever, not part of the seat's otherwise electric drive, what the heck is that about?
-and, every time you move the seat up to let out a rear seating passenger the seat-back-rake-angle must be totally manually reset, no advancement in that department since the Model T
-no **** to adjust the seat-back-rake-angle, Volvo had one since 1970, maybe before
-during acceleration, the engine sounds like I threw 15 lbs. of assorted metal hardware into a blender and hit "frappe".
-virtually contextless, cheap little 4 instruments in the middle of the "upgraded" dash, none of which have any numbers whatsoever. My impression is that Ford thinks we are too stupid to decipher numbers, so the effect is totally patronizing.
-A useless "information system" that when scrolled through tells us obvious stuff with no detail (e.g., no voltages, temperatures or actual oil pressures) just that it's OK, and that the door is shut! Unbelievably patronizing!
-No felt (or other material) liner on the trunk lid, leaving exposed the el cheapo plastic and electric tape wrapped wiring loom dangling in your face. My dad's Chevette even had that.
-No electric antenna, just the same crap they've been putting on the Ford Fairmont since the 70's
-Aluminium dashboard trim, not my cup of tea (I also have an Audi A4) but wierd, it's growing on me, but it's unnatural
-no outdoor termperature guage, this is a big bone of mine, too! What the f?
-The transmission shift selector pushbutton requires a huge effort to engage and is ergonomically a joke.
-there is no sport/economy/snow mode for the transmission like we're used to in european cars
-the quality and feel of the control stalks on the side of the steering wheel is incredibly poor. Feels like something off of a Playskool toy car.
Just some observations, and please don't get sore and tell me to go back to Trollhatten and get another Volvo. The truth of the matter is that American cars are light years behind (however in the Mustang's case the exterior styling is phenomenol which is why we bought it), and there is no effort at all to catch up. This may explain the precarious financial position the American legacy makers now find themselves in.

One of the main problems with the Automatic is they are upshift happy to maximize fuel economy... At light throttle the car will be in 3rd gear by 16MPH! Also, Ford likes to make the shift so smooth it's ridculous... LOL!
Soooo... I would pick up an SCT X-Cal2... it will fix a lot of shortcomings of the automatic... I recommend Lidio at Alternative Auto (www.alternativeauto.com). It will greatly improve the feel of your automatic. I've also pushed out my shift points... So the car is no longer upshift happy, it keeps the RPMs up more in the power band... it just feels like is in the right gear now... especially if I come off a stop light at light throttle and then get on it... I'm no longer in 3rd at 16MPH.... I'm still in first... so when I punch it I GO... no more annoying downshifts!
