Default Rims for my 2008 Mustang GT

I just bought myself a 2008 Mustang GT, and i am thinking of getting some new customs wheels for my ride. I really like the American Racing Phantom Flat Black wheel model in 20'' inch. Spoke with the sales account rep, and they said they would mount my selected tire on them, balance, inject nitrogen into the tires, and shipped them to me ready to install right onto my Monte. Sounds like a good deal for some nice rims. What do you guys think?

Welcome to MF! That all sounds great, but there's one thing wrong. You might not want to get nitrogen in your tires; that is if you would enjoy a little performance. If you want to enjoy your stang with performance, you definitely want air in your tires. In doing this, the air fluctuates giving you better traction and more tread on the road. However, if you plan on keeping it stock, then nitrogen is the way to go. That way you wont have to worry about tire pressure as much. Hope this helps and welcome again.

^ I must disagree with you that "air" is a better option for performance.

Nitrogen does not have the expansion and contraction issues of straight air. Once one finds the optimum pressure for his/her driving needs, subject to the design criteria of the tires, the pressure remains more consistant. The expansion/contraction of pressure can only lead to somewhat less consistant tire wear and therefore somewhat inconsistant performance.

A couple other benifits, but this relates to your post.

Default Nitrogen or not

Hard call on the Nitrogen -- it is better than the regular air fill for sure. The big question is how much $$ better. If they are offering you a good deal, then do it.

I was hoping to get it on my last set of meats, but the shop didn't offer it at that point. I am due for a new set in a few months, so will look into it further. Maybe I can get some cans of the stuff myself and have a little huff-party with the left overs

I've heard nitrogen is the way to go. Let us know how it works out for you.
