2001 Mustang GT "Secret" Gauge info
So I just found out that I can activate many different types of gauges in the odo display. (To do this, hold down the odo reset button for 5 seconds, continue holding while starting the car and keep pressing until "test" shows up on the display).
Some helpful ones I've figured is "tach" - (a digital/accurate tachometer) and "fuel".
However many of them are very cryptic in their coding and was wondering if anyone knows what they are or of a list of the codes? I don't see anything in the manual and google hasn't helped this time.

I found a great list on all the codes and explanations about 6-8 months ago when i started shopping for my car. I think I even have a printout somewhere as well because it would tell you recent error codes without needing a handheld..thought it would be great to have when test driving cars. Never did use it though. I'll see if I can find that site again for you....if I can remember what I was searing for when I stumbled across it lol.

No secret involved, it's the HEC (Hybrid Electronic Cluster) self-diagnostic mode--there's a whole section of the shop manual dedicated to it--click here for more...

Almost every time I have linked to that document someone freaks out that their o/p switch has failed. So to reinforce the "messages in green" on pages 2 and 3 of the document linked above--it is common for the "dts" function to return error code 5284, Oil Pressure Switch Failure.
This is due to a bug in the firmware, not so much a bug as a failure to consider that often when each test is run the engine is stopped. With the engine off the o/p switch is open, and the test routine thinks it has failed.
I'd like to have 1/2 of the money that has been spent on new o/p switches because of this erroneous error...
