if it's a throttle cable, I'm almost 100% sure that's out of a maverick. The maverick had a stock cable, MUCH easier to use than the mustang metal rod linkage.

No I have the rod, I was mentioning that the mustang sites say the cable is for mustangs/Cougars.

Does anyone have a pic of there set up for the kickdown linkage? I have a holley 4 barrell on a 302 that is already set up for the kick down, but I think I may be missing some connection from the carb to the linkage (as well as the throttle line). I went through the FAQ as well as the engine pics and I was unable to get a clear shot. Thanks I would appreciate it.
Here's the pages out of the service manual for your rod config:

jlg,

Thanks so much. This is exactly what I was looking for. It seems I have all the parts for the top photo and now have a puzzle to do.

I just had my kick down rod installed (351C with an FMX trans) and it is very dissapointing. I was hoping for that kick back, but the only time I felt anything was once taking off from the toll booth. It doesn't work at top speeds (maybe because I'm going to fast- 65-70?) Mine connected from the trans to the carb linkeage. There's a guy on EBAY that manufactures them.

I just ordered a kickdown cable for my 66 Fastback from dallas mustang, the cable was 9.99 and the clip was 1.29 I think (my notes are a little scratchy... sorry). It attaches from the kickdown switch (or whatever it's called) on the side of the c4 tranny, and attaches to the accelerator lever that mounts on the firewall. It does not come near the carb on mine, from the accelerator lever top there is the shaft that connects to the carb, is that what you're getting confused? Anyway, hope this helps...

JLG's attachment as it right for mine, which may not make it right for others. I am sure they were many different ways they did things on the early mustangs trying to make it better. Thanks for all the input. I should have time this weekend to set it up.
