Fox Body Brutes Show the Ferocity of All-motor Power in L.A.

We don’t condone street racing, but these rival notchbacks having a wicked bout for $1,800 is indeed entertaining.

Two Fox Body notchbacks, a heads up street race, $1,800 at stake. Somewhere in Southern California, under cover of darkness, two nitrous-fed machines square off in this YouTube video from ActiveHoodRich. There’s one catch: they’re running all motor.

The tension builds over the vast majority of the video, as the intro is mostly coin flips, logistics, arguing, and bargaining. The black-and-green night vision lighting highlights the illicit nature of the race. Just before the five minute mark, we hear one of the cars start up, signifying that the good stuff is about to start.

Like something out of The Fast and the Furious, the participants close off a public roadway late at night to race. We don’t condone this sort of behavior, of course. Racing should always be kept to the track.

The two Fox Body competitors are Long Beach Performance in the white car, with Team Renegade in the flat black notchback. Long Beach Performance takes the left lane; Team Renegade is in the right. Once the tires are properly warmed, the cars line up.

Lifting the front tires off the ground, Long Beach Performance gets the holeshot, almost immediately putting a car length on Team Renegade. The gap widens considerably by the end of the race to over three car lengths as Long Beach Performance drives away with a decisive victory.

That’s easy money for Long Beach Performance, who ends the night with a fat wad of cash in their pocket to the tune of $1,800. Hopefully that will be enough to bail themselves out of jail and pay any fines they might incur if the authorities ever identify anyone in the video. We love a good drag race as much as anyone, but for the sake of your safety and the safety of others, please keep it on the track where it belongs.
