If you had a sense of humor you wouldn't have to wonder why.

I want auto lights 'cause I never have to worry about turning them off, and don't have to listen to a chime to tell me to turn them off. It's such a great feature, and would like to know if there's a switch that works on 05-09's. The dash in the 2nd gen S197's is different and they all have the sensor already installed, just not all have the switch.

SOLER

I think the lights turn off automatically after about 30 minutes anyway. I know that I had to keep turning the key to the on position occasionally to keep the flashers going while I was waiting for a tow.

There is also a headlamp battery saver
feature. This feature turns off the headlamps 10
minutes after the ignition switch is turned OFF.

I'd be interested in auto headlamps also. It's nice hopping in the wifes trailblazer and the lights are on. Does it take effort to turn them on, no but it's an interesting mod.
