you're absolutely right. people don't understand that every time a cop pulls someone over, they don't know if they're walking up to grandma or to mr. wanted in 17 states with a gun under the seat. regardless of the situation, the cop must be in control and in authority at all times. you may perceive that as him being a d**** but if you didn't know if your life was in danger or not, you might act the same way.
and like I said, the fix-it ticket is the BEST ticket a cop can give you, you don't have to pay it at all, you just have to fix the problem.
and again, as we've seen by the other thread here where everyone is boasting about how fast they've taken their mustangs, the fact of the matter is that a mustang is not a vehicle to be trusted because many of the drivers will race and put people's lives in danger. if you're a cop and last night you had to pull some kid's corpse out of a car because he sped his mustang into it a tree at 120 mph, you're not going to be all sympathetic with the next person you see driving one, you're going to do everything you can to make sure it's not their corpse you pull out of a car next week
so accept the fact that you're driving a car that generates some negative police attention and drive and act accordingly, that's all. when I get my mustang that's exactly what I'll be doing.

Well from the cops point of view, imagine pulling someone over and standing outside a car with tint where you can't see the occupants. You could be dealing with some bad people. For all he knows he's got 4 guys with automatic weapons pointing at his face. Picture yourself in that position. Cops are human and have fears but they have to overcome it. Some overcome it by acting tough and don't appreciate a smartass.
Well I'm done... speech over.

I dont think cops are supposed to pull you for tint... thats an inspection problem, they are supposed to have a better reason to stop you - esp pull a Uie on ya.. I mean they just make it up anyway, like it looked you were speeding or I dont like you so I pulled you, not I think youre tint is a little dark
cops can pull you over for any violation or suspected crime, including heavy tint. and if we're driving cars that are usually driven by speeding, drag racing idiots, then we're going to get more negative attention, there's nothing to be done about it but make sure you're not breaking any laws, and then you're fine
So let me get this straight. Your tint is illegal, and you are upset at the cop that gave you a ticket????
I don't run a front plate, illegal? sure. But I certainly would not bitch if I got a ticket for it.
The only time I would be upset is if the cop was abusive, out of line, or just plain wrong.

Every state is different. Here in MA the maximum allowed is 35%. It's a $250 fine and you can be pulled over and cited anytime for it. Second time is license suspension. Officer also has the discretion to have you respond to an RMV Inspector within 48hrs for an overall inspection and if you don't comply, your registration and license become suspended.
