OK, here's a good one. My car is a October 2006 built car (2007 model year). Does that mean I can advertise it as an 07 ?

If you live in the USA your title says 2007 Mustang! So I would suggest you sell it as a 2007 unless you want to explain fraud to the judge.

Also you had to order a Blower Kit for a 2007 due to the relocated thermostat.

So you own a 2007 Mustang produced in 2006.

BTW Just so you know there is no such thing as a 1964 Mustang. The so called 1964 1/2 Mustangs are officially 1965's. However Ford made some running changes at the normal model changeover in mid-summmer (manufacturing not sales) so hobbyist forever after have refered to cars produced into June 1964 as 1964 1/2.

But three years from now, the guys who got a slightly better deal to buy an 07 instead of an 08 will have a four year old car, not a three year old car.
How can that be true ?!?!?! Three years from now you'll have a four year old car ??? LMAO Sir, you have swallowed the marketing crap more fully than even the car industry could have ever hoped for LOL
Ever bought or sold a used car? This is not marketing crap, but hard numbers. At any given time, when you go to trade or go to sell, the valuation guides will be organized by model year. When one looks at a model valuation guide, NADA, KBB, whatever, there will be one value for a used08 and a lower value for a used07. For purposes of how much you can sell the car for, or how much you can get in trade, the 07 will ALWAYS be considered a year older and valued as such, even if they are purchased new on the same day. Crap? Unfair? Artificial? Maybe, but it is also an economic reality.

or is the concept of having types of years that begin and end at times different than the calendar year completely alien to you?
Well, here you may have me, I hold my hands up. You see, in Europe, the year starts 1st January, not 1st August. If we buy a car/house/boat/dog in 2007, it stays 2007, we don't call it 2008.

You have to try to focus a little more on what is happening. The industry sees a lull in the middle of the year so they start putting out revised models and label them the following year models, it's happened that way in the States for decades. It isn't a bad thing if it works, but don't delude yourself that your car is 6 months younger than it actually is. In a couple of years from now themodel year of your ride will be utterly meaningless, the important thing was, is and will forever be the date it was built..

Give me strength
Quick! Call BMW (European, right?) and tell them that they are committing fraud selling these 335i's as 08's! Call it US all you wnt, but the Europeans also have model years. Also, if what you say is true, then an 04 mustang sold in Septemeber of 04 and an 05 Mustang sold in September of 04 will be identical? Obviously not the case.

As far as fiscal years, I'm not positive, but I suspect that even European companies use those. Not all yearly categories are based on a calendar year. Many companies use a physical year starting, say on Ocotber 1. Coem October 1, it will be officially 2008 for many companies. Just facts, and if you think otherwise, you are being naive.

It IS a 2007 Mustang, why would you think it's a '06?

This is the first I have seen a v-6 with lights like these. I still love my 05 GT made in 04.
