problem shifting into 3rd?

RE: problem shifting into 3rd?
I've heard complaints from people with all shifters. Not as many with the MGW, but I've still heard them.
I don't think I've ever heard anyone with the CHE k member brace w/torque limiters complain about it not fixing the problem. I installed one on both of mine. No missed shifts ever now.

Sounds like driver mod to me. Just practice your shifts and get the muscle memory down and you'll have no problems.

I used to have a hard time going into 3rd from 2nd when my car was new but now it seems like I don't have that problem anymore. Maybe I've adapted and learned.

RE: problem shifting into 3rd?
Mine does it a lot less than when it was new, but I don't think it has anything to with me, since I've been driving sticks for 20 years. I think it's just broken in more or loosened up. There's still a stretch of road (uphill with a slight bend to the right) where I can make it do it every time if I wind it out in 2nd. I think the body being rocked over a little bit at an angle because of the hill and turn makes it bind up worse.

^^^good point here^^^^ i am going to become more aware of the pitch of the road i am on when the dreaded 2nd to 3rd miss rears its ugly head. also, as stated above, technique is key, and a great one given to me is to make the shift from 2nd to 3rd with the palm of my hand only (not wrapping my fingers around the shift ****). the shifter will move quickly to center position and be lined up and waiting to easily move into 3rd. quick shift up-very slight pause-quick shift up. pretty soon the three steps blend into one really quick step as your slight pause becomes shorter and shorter. a person can get really fast pretty quick using this method. make the shift!
or just get a short throw shifter and be done with it all!
