I cleaned mine with a can of throttle body cleaner and a clean "acid brush". I removed the TB, sprayed the cleaner all around inside, used the brush to loosen the carbon, sprayed to rinse and wiped with a clean soft cloth. You need to be careful not to scratch the coating on the inside of the TB. I didn't do anything to the position sensor. I replaced the seal when putting the TB back on. I also cleaned the MAF sensor at the same time.

Just be sure to clean it with a chemical that wont leave a residue. Also be carefull when cleaning the airfilter (if its aftermarket) since you re oil them sometimes the oil will get collected on the maf sensor and then dust can settle on the maf causeing it to think less air is coming in and restrict fuel flow which leads to lower hp and hurt performance.

In both cases (TB & MAF sensor) I used a spray product that was designed just for this purpose. I agree about the air filter. I have used K&N filters for years, but because of a concern about getting oil on the MAF sensor, When I cleaned the MAF sensor, I changed the filter on my K&N Aircharger to one of the new type from Amsoil - it doesn't use any oil. Not only oil-less, it is several times better filtering than K&N. Juct blow it off every 25K miles. Lifetime is 100,000 miles.
