Oil Change Time
ORIGINAL: Androdz2You are blaming amsoil for a transmission failure that you most likely caused yourself.
BTW Scott is probably not the only person that worked on designing the motor. We havent heard from anyone else. He isnt a God.
BTW please explain why Ford recommends 5W-30 in the V6 if this is all about CAFE standards.

Also Well the v6 is an iron block, doesn't have vct if I am not mistaken, and the clearances are much larger. I wouldn't be surprised if they would had recomended 5w-50 like on the gt500. Either way like I said before do an oil analysis then make your own conclusion. I can give you a rod and some bait but I can't make you go fishing..

My head is spinning.
Learn to read one of the main reasons and/or myths thought why ford was recommending 5w-20 was because the v8 had tighter clearances. I have not opened a v6 motor or have any interest on that matter. Surely someone that is familiar with it could come in and chine in. I know it is too much info for you to digest but there is the data/facts or whatever you want to name it. just do an oil analysis and make your pick. I have far more experience with lubrication on the v8 that you will and I surely as hell push mine much more than you do. So like I said I did several oil analysis talked with quite a few (knowledgeable) people with actual background in fluids, lubrication, s197 engineers and so on. Took samples from several track days and came down to my conclusion. I put everything on the line wether you want to use it or not thats your choice. I for one will never put 5w-20 again in my mustang.

I realize you might take offense to my skepticism here but there is a lot of differing opinions on this subject and not a lot of facts. Good luck to you with whatever oil you decide to put in your motor. I am undecided at this point.
I only stated what I know about the v6 thats all, just go to bobistheoilguy or ask around in other forums of mustang stuff. Here you wont get many oil analysis since this forum isn't that "tech" persay into oil and stuff like that. Well I have spoken with almost every1 at speedlab by the phone on this issue, at funford weekend this was debated.
I have no offense in your skepticism I have grown accostumed to it. I guess the clear recommendation of roush and saleen to use 5w-30 isn't real data either, the oil analysis or main guy building the engine. But hey like I said do whatever you want it is your engine. Just do an oil analysis and make your choice. I have spoken more then enough on the matter. If you are looking for a link directly from ford saying to use 5w-30 you wont get that, nor you will get another engineers recomendation in writing if he is still is working with ford. Either way judging by your signature I dont think you will ever need any superior protection so just stay with the 5w-20 if it helps you sleep better at night. I have numerous oil analysis proving 5w-20 breaking up. If you want to go m0dularfords.com and ask for some of the members oil analysis. I for one showed 5w-20 eating the leaving crap out of my engine so no thx I wont put that junk any more in my engine. Do what you want with your oil. I doubt any one else will have more experience and testing done than salee, roush or scott on the 4.6 3v.

It boils down to this: Ford is the OEM on these engines. I don't give two sh*ts what Roush or Saleen say. When they start buildingcomplete vehicles and quitbeing "van conversion" houses, I'll listen. For nowI'm sticking with the manufacturer's (Ford's) recommendations.

LOL now I'm really confused. I thought it was all about the CAFE standards in the first place. That's what you were saying. Clearances weren't the issue with the V8. But now suddenly they are with the 6?
My head is spinning.

You need to be able to see through the cloud of BS. His prenup is ......have the oil analized. I don't intend to. I do intend to stay with 5W20 like FORD says to. We do have clearance issues, that is fact. The 20W addresses these and CAFE issues at the same time. Do yourself a favor, save time and sleep and stick with 20W.

What is your response to these two threads:
http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/f...-amsoil-63563/
http://neptune.spacebears.com/cars/stories/amsoil.html
The second one especially shows the Amsoil turning into a completely different weight, not to mention completely breaking down with TBN.
That would seem to prove why Amsoil is so bad for our engines, and why Ford could void a warranty. BTW, I have several law cases I can point you to from Westlaw showing Ford denying warranty coverage based upon incorrect weight oil being used and/or non-API certified oil being used.
edit: btw, that bobistheoilguy.com site you suggested even says using non-API certified oil can void engine warranties. http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/oilshear.htm read it
