Airbag Light?

You didnt happen to turn the steering wheel when you had the steering shaft disconnected did you?If you did,you need a new clockspring, they are easy to put in though.
before connecting the steering shaft i turned the wheel all the way from one extreme to the other and then backed up half way to make sure it was in the middle when the tires were straight, because i had my 6 year old son in there to hold the wheel straight and he decided he wanted to pretend he was driving.
what is this clockspring, and how do i fix it? the wife took the car last night and said the cruise control wasn't working either, im sure its related.
*edit* yeah it looks like cruise control is related. called my local dealer and they'll have one in on tuesday for 45 bucks after my 10% discount cause im in the local mustang club.
i dont suppose there is any way to repair these things is there? if there was i'd cancel my order and save 45 bucks

Im glad I could help. The clocksprings cannot be fixed, once you take it apart and look at it,you will understand why. They are very easy to do,Just make sure you disconnect your battery before pulling the airbag aout.Once you pull the DS airbag(look behind your steering wheel and you will see 2 little covers, pull those off and you remove those to pull the airbag out.Ehhh,if you installed LT's you will have no problems.Good luck!

thanks for the tip, seriously i never would have found the problem. i'll be able to swap it no problem, the only thing on a car that scares me is the guts of a tranny and the inside of a rearend - and thats only cause i havent messed with them.

This might help with the replacement of said spring.
You will need to do it properly or suffer from an
unwanted air bag deployment.
You will have to have your RCM reset by the dealership, though.
No turning of the steering wheel while it is disconnected fror
the steering rack.
You have probably also lost your cruise control button functions
as well as the horn function if the clock spring wiring is really damaged.
