wheel shimmy...please help
#11
I just recently purchased some 20" Shelby Razors with Toyo tires for my GT500. I had a bad wheel shimmy even with the tires mounted/balanced correctly. I had to install some Hub centric rings to make the wheels stop the shimmy at the same speed yours is. My wheels actually come with hub centric rings from American racing for this issue. It eliminated about 95% of the shimmy. Look into it.
Check out the link below for some good info on the hub centric rings!

It actually costed more than I was quoted. I didn't install my camber bolts, just the Steeda upper strut mount. I told them to use the cam bolts if needed, and the strut mount didn't quite have enough adjustment.......so I was charged the labor to install the cam bolts. They did pretty much everything I asked though. Lock-tite on all the jam nuts, put a reference mark/line on the jam nuts and rods on all the adjustable parts, checked my pinion angle, and of course aligned the car to near perfection......with a printout. The cost was a little steep, but I was very pleased with the service I got. They even checked to make sure there was no loose nuts and bolts, which I didn't ask of them........but I'm glad they did because I guess I forgot to tighten (or didn't tighten enough) some of the lug nuts. How many truly honest shops are around? Not many, but I'm glad I found one. Only flaw with them, they pretty much only do alignments.
