Default What do you think of this shop...Am I being too picky??

I called to get estimates for parts and labor to install 4.10 gears in my GT. I didn't go into any detail when asking. When they called me with the price ($700 - Kinda high, but it is a Ford Dealership) they never mentioned new bearings. When I aked about them, they said they planned on reusing the old ones because I had an '08 and they were still new.

I am wondering if they know what they are doing or if I'm being too picky. (I will have them put in new bearings.) What do you guys think?

Im not using new bearings and I have an '08 as well... I think you will be fine with the bearings you got... is that cost of the gears and install kit?? I got my FRPP gears for 155 shipped and 45 dollar install kit and was quoted 300 for install... so its your call man... I'd save 200 and buy them online and install kit and find another shop.... JMO

$700 is complete BS! I got mine installed for around $300 with no whine!

They quoted me $300 for the gear kit (gears & shims), $340 for labor, $60 for synthetic gear oil and $5 for friction modifier. It would be worth a little more to me to have a good shop do it and to avoid any warranty questions (this is where I bought the car). My issue is, I'm not sure what shops around my area are good and/or have experience with S197 rear ends.

I guess I'll shop around for a good shop or at least for a good deal online for the gears....

Thanks SirKnightG - I think I have another shop in mind also. I'll give them a call in the morning.
