Stupid ? - tires & ABS
OK, I was unable to search this topic. If one chooses to run taller/wider tires in the rear for better traction, why doesn't that screw up the ABS system? Running down the road, the rotors would then be turning at different RPM's, front to rear respectively. Does the system "learn" to compensate for the different wheel speed? Is the difference too small to matter? I'm staying with the same size tires all around, but I was just curious if it caused any problems.

RE: Stupid ? - tires & ABS
for ABS to be effective, the driver has to apply full pressure against the pedal. normal stop and go driving requires only light pressure to stop safely. i have read in several sources that different size tires affect the operation but the ABS usually detects tires not turning such as on ice or hydroplaning with barake applied and pulsates so they will come under control. this leads be to think a larger rear tire will not be a safety issue unless in an extreme situation stopping.
