WOW! Stage 5. One of these days when mine isn't the life line to get to and from work, I look to need something of this level. Then I will trailor it and use it only to play. Until then I look to stage 2 or stage2+. I just know right now I am living on borrowed time with this clutch. It is in the very early stages of going, so I have to take it easy until the next step in this project is affordable. it's got some life left but I can't be doing 4500 launches with it and get through this winter. Thanks for the feedback.

Great numbers, Thanks for the information.

and as other people have pointed out.. with practice you should be able to get it down.. i dunno why you decided to lash out and attack all the other long time members here because you did poorly at the track. and auto's still have to launch too.. i've had as bad as a 2.5 60ft with MT ET streets on.. didn't do enough of a burn out so i had no traction.. and i've only had a best of a 2.0 60' on stock tires.. other people have done better so there is obviously learning and adjusting to do anyway..
Your post was caught up in the heat of another's comments (Stkjock - Moderator). I do appreciate the feedback you provided both now and before, and I apologize to you perosnally for my spleen venting which I admit went in the wrong direction. I do believe that you were interested in giving useful advise unlike the forementioned.

Not everyone wishes to go to the track and tear their daily driver to heck trying to make a 1.6 60ft time. Not everyone can have the luxury of having a driver car and a race car, like me. Right now like many I am just fortunate enough to have a job. I enjoy a little fun at the track once in a while. I am not looking to be anything other than a mustang enthusiast who likes to talk mustangs along with others. I have seen cars I hated at car shows, but still showed enough respect to the owner to compliment something on the car before I walked on. I have seen kids at the track make 21 second passes in 86 Ford Escorts, but took a moment to compliment them on their passion to want to be there trying their hardest. I have met guys boasting crate motors and turning mid 14's and they were proud, but I didn't bust their chops. You see I have NEVER driven a car into the 12's. This was my first. I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH THE TIMES, BUT I WAS STILL IN THE TWELVES FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE. ALL I WANTED TO DO WAS SHARE THAT WITH OTHERS WHO HAVE SHARED THEIR FIRSTS AS WELL. The whole sleeper comment came from a guy I talked to when I came back to the stands that was caught off guard by my pass. He was expecting a stock GT 13.8-14.1 range. Hence. "my little sleeper".

I am sure you hit your low ET (11.87) the very first time you got your Vortech HO installed and hit the track. Wow it must be nice to be an all star professional racer like you. Can I have your autograph? NOT!!!! Get a life. This forum is about sharing and enjoying each others mustang experiences as we all grow with our cars. Shove off if you don't have anything good to say. BTW any one and I mean anyone can drive an automatic . . . DUDE!
ohhh touchy touchy Mr. Redfire..... the fact that you posted as you did, you actually did ask

glad your proud.... but your thread title is a bit boast full and egotistical. When I ran the first few times in my car after it was blow, I did horrible, I was humble and asked for advice. I didn't come to "share" (brag) as you have here.

Yes this forum is about sharing - however if you post - expect to be called out if your post calls for it. IMHO yours did call for it and I called you out, sorry if we cant all throw rose pedals at your feet and bow to your 12s.

As far as an auto I don't know who that f'n comment is to, real men have a third pedal.... and I guess your unable to read a sig....

Additionally.... you posted this in the wrong section, your lucky the S197s mods didnt move it to S/S.... you'd have gotten eaten for breakfast!

finally you better grow some thicker skin if you are going to post on the net my friend.

no get out there, get some seat time and run some 11s......

With my last car, I spent too much time worryin about having it look cool, but it wasn't as fast. Now with my new gt, I've taken a performance first approach, its the way to go if you want to have the most fun

Nice #'s, as some have said, stickier tires will help get the ET down.

As a few of the more respectable commenters have pointed out, these numbers have a long, long way to go as I learn how the car reacts. I look to see better times with time. Just having fun. Sticky tires will surely help I agree. So will some time in the seat. Unfortunately I am not a corporate CEO, Stock broker, or US Senator so I have to be easy on this car since I have to drive every day to work. Sure wish I could afford a race car and a daily driver. Just happy to have what I have got in these times.

Needs a little suspension work and assuredly an upgrade on the clutch to a stage 2 package and a drive shaft, not to mention some sticky tires, and a line lock device.

I made my first pass, 12.80 @ 112.3mph. I could smell a faint hint of clutch so I parked the car to cool off for a while. One of the spectator/drivers that was watching walks over and says, "Man I told my brother when you pulled up to the line, 'There goes another low 14 second S197 GT.', my mouth dropped when you laid the hammer to it midway through second, you took off like a rocket. I couldn't believe the time. Now that's a nice little sleeper."

What a compliment. This is why I love keeping the badges and stickers low key if on the car at all. Nothing like a crowd shocker to make conversation!!!

My second a final pass was a 12.79 @ 113.65mph. The light scent of clutch lingering again, tells me I need a stage 2 clutch setup. A good night for a guy running on street tires on a track known for not being the tightest track on earth.
that is awesome!!!!!!!!!

OP, you can run 12.0 for sure if drive it right with some DR's.

Good runs.

I run 11.2's and the only thing that looks different on my 06 REDFIRE GT is tinted windows, lowered 1.5" and FRPP stingers in the back. My 18" bullits from FRPP have been widened an inch in the back to squeeze bigger rubber but look stock. There are no stickers or hood pins or gauges where the eye can see. No scoops or louvers or stripes. Just stock looking
