If you can't get Doug on the phone (which you probably won't) I would call the credit card company. The fact that you can't contact the vendor is reason enough to cancel the order.

You guys kill me LOL! How big of a operation do you think Bamachips is? Do you think Doug has his own office, staff, office building(s) & install bays?? No he has none of that, its just him and two other guys he trusts to help him out. Doug built Bamachips on his own and he is the only one who writes the tunes and I don't blame him one bit for not wanting to show others his tune files. He put in all the hard work to come up with the tuning using his own car as his test bed. He is not one to just let an employee have access to his tunes knowing that they could just walk and take that info with them and start their own shop. So since he does not have a shop he has to travel all over to do dyno tunes and anything else that has him away from his house. So with all the requests for tunes or re-tunes how much time do you think he has? But, if you don't want to wait that's fine but give the guy a break ok?

Oh I understand that, but at least acknowledge that he received an email and that it will be a while since they are backed up. Sending nothing for months is just bad business, and if he's really that busy then he needs to expand.

Oh, I agree Starfire it just that some people don't know how small of a business Bamachips is. As I'm sure you know, "good help is hard to find". When I see him again to finsh my dyno tuning I'll talk to him about getting someone to just answer emails for him that are not tuning questions.

That would be a good idea, I mean he was/is at the top of the game for email tunes, but he's heading down a slippery slope and there are enough email tuners out there that he could very easily be down on the bottom. I liked his tune but I can't be waiting around with a tune that is too lean when I DD my car so I had to go somewhere else.

there is no excuse for poor customer service. If he is that busy, he should at a very minimum post an auto reply on his email and let his customers know that it could be months before they get the product they paid for. Promissing to have it in 1-2 weeks and then not answering the phone for emails for months is unexcuseable.

If he honestly posted the wait time for his tune and 6-8 week response time for email and phone calls then he would not have this problem. Everyone would go elsewhere. The only ones dealing with him would be the ones willing to wait. Noone would be here complaining about the poor customer service since the expectations would have been properly set.

If I knew his service was so bad I would have gone elsewhere.

well.... I got my tune from Doug cuz it was cheap. Probably the majority of us only did get one tune.... and for 50 bucks? Brenspeed? 75 bucks, VMP? 60 bucks. We spend $50 bucks and expect it to be delivered in a golden email? lol..... Yeah I admit it im a budget builder, and I truly believe Doug's tunes are the best money can buy and shoot, I would wait a couple months to get it. I mean for $50 bucks? Even the other packages he sells is at more of an attractive price than anyone else.... And seein it is how the times are right now? For his prices I can imagine a bunch of people are floodin him with work. It happens to everyone at one point. I'm sure he will honor his work and punch out his orders.... Just sad to see the lack of understanding and bad reviews from some who have not even used his stuff or even talked to him just cuz of the good old "he said, I heard" BS.... Just keep callin him, more than once every couple days.....

i just called doug.. he answered at the 3rd call (the first 2 he didnt answer).. i asked him about my order, he said i will recieve it middle to late next week (now i hope i will reieve it then!).. he was a very nice guy, and i agree with the people that support him and all.. but i also think just hiring someone to answer emails, pick up phone calls, etc.. that has nothing to do wth tuning would be a very good thing for him.. and concidering how popular his work is, i'm pretty sure he can afford to hire 2 or 3 guys to work for him... thats just my opinion...

This is nothing against Bama Chips but I don't buy the whole "They are busy" argument. Many vendors will respond quickly to pre-sales questions but as soon as they get your money it is nearly impossible to get in touch with them. If they are that busy then they need to either hire someone to assist or STOP taking new orders until the customers that have already paid are taken care of. These situations don't typically get better they get worse until the vendor just gives up and then many people can be left out in the cold. If a vendor has time to answer pre-sales questions quickly they should be able to provide current customers with timely responses. That is just basic customer service. This sort of thing typically happens from vendors who are a one-man-show and only sell via a forum or multiple forums.

That is just my opinion.

Doug seems to do this from time to time, he gets over busy, over booked and overwhelmed in the snap of a finger. I have had great service dealing with him. Like cutter said he is busy, its a small operation and being his size he is also at the mercy of his vendors. If they are out of the CAI he has no way to speed that up.
Sure he should get someone to answer his phones or email but would that really help? He is the one who sends the emails, writed the codes and places the vendor orders so in essence you would be getting a minimum wage lacky telling you, I'll let my over busy boss know that you called.
I agree he needs to fix his operation but he didn't get so popular or have the rep he does being bad at what he does.
