I am in the same boat ponyxps. I am sorry to see your stang all bent up too. I was hit by an idiot on a cell phone. Keep us posted. Send some pics when you get that Roush kit on there.

If it's a good shop, you're in good hands.
The shop manager was telling me that the quarter panel had to be replaced, which I knew but then she mentioned that they will have to cut out that whole section, including the damage in the trunk area. Am I supposed to be worried?? Sounds to be something different than what you had in mind, or maybe she didn't get into details?

Also they will be cutting off the panel half way up to the rear window. Will this affect structure/roof integrity? God forbid, but in the event of a roll over, I don't want that section to fail.

In the meantime, I'm still trying to figure out if there are some small body mods I can squeeze in. I was thinking maybe an aftermarket fuel door, but silver on silver might not be noticeable and black may be too much. Any suggestions would be great.

That's the problem with writing the check to you. I've never had an insurance company that worked that way. All my accidents I paid the body shop my deductible and insurance paid them. Hell my last one I didn't even have to pay the deductible because the body shop took it out of the insurance check for not wanting the spoiler replaced or my stripes.

By cutting out the whole section she meant the quarter, outer wheel housing and trunk drop off.
As far as cutting the quarter, you want to minimize body work and stay away from the roof line.
So it has to be sectioned by the left edge of the quarter glass to the jambs and by the top edge of the quarter glass to the rear window gutter.

Like I said, if it's a good shop, you have nothing to worry about and good welds will make that area even stronger.

Good luck.

I am going to Ford to look at mine tomorrow. I will let you know how it looks as my quarter panel had to be cut out and replaced as well. The dealer assured me it is perfect and won't affect the body structure.

Still waiting to hear from insurance. In the meantime, I will be swapping my name to alkemist (hopefully) and will be making posts from that name.

Insurance is really starting to tick me off. They have yet to re-asses the vehicle before the bodyshop can start. They have just about all the parts they need already!! Also found out that insurance tarded out and sent the check directly to the shop even AFTER I confirmed it would be sent to me. I'll just have to work with the shop, but I think it should be ok. I still have that $500 deductible and then pay for my parts, which I'm hoping will even out or be close to it since the original estimate should be lower.

Hmmm....I'm guessing you have All State insurance? This sounds ALL too familiar to me, LOL.

haha, actually no. I just switched in the summer because they would "save me lots of money" (music playing in the background). Which they did save me a pretty penny, but I guess this is why. They gotta cut corners somewhere.

Im from maryland also, lol. Elkridge, MD. What part are you from? Are you getting any aftermarket parts? I just wanna know how this process works to fit the pricing in the estimate for the parts, since you are further along in the process than I am.
