How do I make sure the body shop doesn't rip me off? Do they have an invoice of allotted costs for each part? If I get the parts pre-painted from Roush directly, will cost me $972 w/o shipping costs. I do not know how much they charge. Need to make sure there is no funny business in between and they try to jack more money from me. The insurance will be writing the check to me and I pay the shop. Is that the norm? Should I have insurance pay them direct?

I can't wait to get my baby back!! There is a black GT convert that lives down the street. Saw it coming down the road as I was walking the dog. I miss that sweet sound.

Sorry to see yours dented, hope you don't have to wait to long but be patient and make sure it's fixed right.

When I wrecked mine, just front end damage, I had my Ford dealerships body shop order a Cervinis Concept hood since my insurance co wanted to put a used OE hood on my car. They tried to add a 20 percent mark up on the hood because it's their standard practice. I told them that if I had known that I would have ordered the hood, had it sent to my house, put it in the back of my buddy's truck, delivered it to them and it would have only cost me a six pack. In short they didn't charge me a 20 percent mark up. You should deposit the insurance check and then pay the body shop minus parts you might buy yourself if you decide to go that route.

That is something I am thinking about. Thanks for the tip of wisdom! I'm going to double check with the insurance to make sure they will make it out to my name. Then I can probably order the parts and see if I can have it shipped direct to the shop so I don't have to transfer the parts.

Dunno why they are so leery to install after market parts. They are a body shop after all.. and I am essentially hiring them to do the work. Strange.

Be careful man. Drive slow and take it easy. All we can do is look forward to dry weather again when we can reign the roads again!
