Help! Can't remove harmonic balancer!

If you get it pulled into place the stock bolt will work. A longer bolt can bottom out and cause you problems. If you use a longer bolt and stack washers to get the pulley far enough on to get the Ford bolt to work.

You can't use just any hardness of bolt here from a hardware store or NAPA.

Yeah I've read the how-to's, but none of them seemed to mention that you can't run the tool straight into the crankshaft.

Do you think an 8.8 would be a high enough grade to hold the crank pulley? I know the stock one is 10.9, but I'm not sure I'll be able to find a 10.9 with the 1.5 thread pitch. Most of the 10.9s are 1.75 thread unfortunately.
